The best fake cheat I have ever heard, without a doubt, was a "Cheat code" where you beat the Elite 4 30 times, then started a new game and deleted after saving the first time 10 times in a row. Then you threw your Game Boy into a burning fire (in real life), then you run into oncoming traffic without looking both ways (Again in real life). Doing this would get you every Pokemon in Red and Blue, including Mew, all G/S/C Pokemon, Mewthree, and "Mew Legacy". I am 99.9% sure the guy who made this cheat was mocking the fake and outlandish Mew cheats all over the internet by coming up with one incredibly outrageous. It still has me laughing all these years later.

And yes, this was on a cheat site I visited around 6-7 years ago.
I award the prize: Best Cheat Ever
Absolutely, the most bizarre fake cheat ever.

I don't think that I actually have posted this glitch myth here before, but here is the horrible fallacy that got me into the whole glitching business. Ahem...

If you catch Missingno. using the Old Man Trick, then the game will restart. There will be a cutscene of Pikachu [this is for Pokemon Special Pikachu Edition, which is odd because the Old Man Trick isn't in that game] shooting "Ash" [the player character] and then eating his mutilated body, leaving only a skeleton. The game will now be a terrible apocalyptic first person shooter where the object of the game is to make Pikachu run around with a gun to shoot people and eat their corpses.

Obviously false, but when I was 10 it kept me from going to sleep at night. I even tried to prove the probability of those images appearing on the screen by chance, if the game somehow decided to scramble the graphics, just to try to prove to myself that I was being incredibly irrational. It's still one of the sickest pranks my neighbor ever pulled on me, but since it got me here I forgave him.
and when the day arrives
I'll become the sky
and I'll become the sea

and the sea will come to kiss me
for I am going home

nothing can stop me now

I'm pretty sure you're referring to tweaking; if so, than yes, you can reach Newmoon. However, you need an exact amount of steps right, forward, backward, etc., depending on where you activate the glitch. I suggest you go to the site mentioned in the article.

GET ALL THREE STARTERS WITHOUT GAME-SHARK (pokemon crystal)

ok you have to start a new game for this to work. now when you have finished talking to mom go to pro-elm's and right before you chose your first pokemon save the game. ok now chose any pokemon and then go to Mr.pokemons house and talk with him about the egg now go back to pro-elms after fighting your rival it does not matter if u win or lose. ok after talking with elm you get 5 poke balls go and catch 1 pokemon and go to the poke center. ok now give your starter pokemon a poke ball to hold and deposit in the pc then change box but right after the saving message (save do not turn of) right after that comes up turn it off do NOT let it finish saving. now turn your gameboy back on and chose anther pokemon not the same 1 now back back to pc and withdraw your old pokemon get the poke ball from it  and catch a pokemon.
now go back to the pc and put both your starters in and change box but turn off right when the message comes up. now turn back on and chose the last starter and and to your pc withdraw your other 2 pokemon and you have all 3 starters.
NOTE- the pokemon's name may have change.

This has been known for a while.

Also, please capitalize the first letters in the first words of sentences.

This is going to sound really stupid and newbie-esque, but...

I saw a youtube video for walking through walls and tried it, it worked, can't find it now, but anyway...

I went to the pallet town grasses in curiosity of what would happen, since I've experienced the game "freezing and Missingno laughing at you" effect before, it didn't surprise me, but what did, was when i got past the grasses via Viridian, and it turns out there IS something past the grasses...Sort of...
There IS a secret past them....Sort of...
(Depends on your opinion)

(Here's where the newbie-esque hopefully ends)

I recorded it, and uploaded it to youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFc13SICfI0

Enjoy :)
I would insert what Adam Savage says, but I can't remember what it is...

Sorry if this is the wrong place and a necro-post, it seems like the right place...

Naturally I saw this being disproved on the main page, and I thought I'd post my find(half find?) provided it hasn't been found before, since its supposed to be impossible.

Not a bad find, although I think this has already been documented.

EDIT: I don't know if ithas been documented, but, if it hasn't, this glitch creates a 'fake kanto' (similar to the fake sinnoh created through tweaking in Generation IV). You CAN get past the grass if you follow the video linked to Xeno's post.

Awesome find there! Even if it HAS been documented, it's similar to what I found with the GS hack of Silver that screws up your position on the map, but only using WTW! And, of course, not playing havoc with the map data.
No fancy-schmancy pics? In my signature?

Sorry for the late reply...

I will add it, as soon as I figure out how to add things to a wiki...I've never added anything to a wiki before, including the original...

Mythbusters isn't a sticky thread, although the thresh-hold for necroposting is 4 months - xeno's post is certainly valid.
Any time it says I'm using "Safari", I'm actually using my phone. Safari does not run on GNU/Linux and I do not use Safari.

Oh, thats how it is here?
Most of the forums I've been to lately, have a thresh-hold of 10-14 days without it counting as a necropost.

Back on topic, I noticed that the masterball trick is considered to be a myth and completely false, but out of habit I almost always use it, and it seems to increase chances of catching a pokemon, but not outright catch them for you on the first go.

For example, I found Cresselia, got it down to about 10 HP or so, maybe less, and threw about 20 ultra balls at it, but finally caught it with a great ball, with the master ball trick.

So, it may just increase the chances, just not increase it to the max chance of catching it.
Not sure by how much...

I also remember being told, and I can't give a source, but I remember being told that a developer said the master ball trick was on the right track, but not quite there.
There is a timing, but no one has found it yet.
But I realize without a source its no better than a rumour.

But I realize without a source its no better than a rumour.

A similar situation happened to me with the Shadow Lugia from Pokemon XD. I wasted my masterball earlier and bought 50 ultra balls; unfortunately I ran out of ultra balls and had 2 great balls left. But that first great ball caught it!

However; it might just be some sort of psychological phenomenon. Nothing on a pokemon game is ever random, just pseudorandom. Somes games are more pseudorandom than others; such as in Emerald/Platinum some people take advantage of  a flaw in the psuedorandom number generator http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pseudo-random_number_generation_in_Pok%C3%A9mon  like in Emerald; "The game neglects to reseed the PRNG on startup (only doing so when the adventure is begun), which means that the personality values of an encountered Pokémon follow a predictable sequence once the seed is found and/or forced."

Exactly what I mean is say the game makes a random number based on various bytes flowing at a current time. When you get to the last pokeball/lose ultra balls you may hesitate and take longer to throw the ball/throw it at a 'tenser' time. Therefore bytes may be set to a value they weren't before, and allow you to catch the pokemon.
