memory limits and whatnot

In order to try to stave off server problems I decreased PHP's memory limit from 100 MB to 32 MB. If a page on the wiki crashes and reports a memory limit error, please post a URL here. Thanks

The only thing I've noticed that gets a crashed page, is the GlitchDex, all it does is display a crashed page.

It seems the glitchdex itself crashes but none of the articles WITHIN it crash. That's helpful.

I temporarily raised the memory limit so I could save this. It's a saved copy of the glitchdex front page.

I'm not going to keep it any higher than 32MB though, for the interest of keeping my server alive. If PHP consumes too much memory it will kill the server.

I think the wiki stresses the server to a point of server crash. Thanks for them, and the French A, is nothing more than a pain all it does it display a black screen. Before the wiki, the forum server was fine, but since the wiki's been public, it's been putting the server at some point of server stress.

The wiki is a necessary evolution of the site. Sometimes we forget that this forum exists only as part of a site... I'm not taking down the wiki for the forum. Since the wiki opened there has been a boost of new articles and improvements to existing ones.

Yes, but it's putting major stress on the server. I tried to use the Red/Blue link, to only get a memory error.

Well, if you've set PHP's memory limit to 32 MB and the glitch dex is crashing, but 100 MB is excessive and bad for the server, would something like 45 MB be a way to fix both problems? (The answer is most likely no because I'm guessing that 32 MB wasn't a randomly picked number)

32 was taken from the Mediawiki documentation. One thing to keep in mind is that GCL is not the only site on this server, and the http daemon isn't the only daemon on the server either.

Wait a minute. The glitchdex on the old site is still up and running. Would it be possible to link everyone from the wiki to the glitchdex on the old site? Because if all of the glitchdex pages on the wiki still worked, then you could just link the glitchdex on the old site to the wiki pages on the individual glitches. Also, to prevent people from going through the old site, the sidebars and header could be removed.

Its a bit of a pain but it would restore the glitchdex and I'd say it be worth it after all the hard work that was put into the glitchdex.

I've increased the memory limit to 64 MB for the time being. I'm running with this for a while, let's see how it goes.
