Neo-Pomegging: The Revival of the Pomeg Glitch
« on: August 31, 2010, 12:32:22 PM »
Over the past year on Halloforigin, I've been bragging about my exploits in Emerald and LeafGreen regarding new discoveries in the Pomeg Glitch. Under the username VaePomegGlitch on YouTube, I've uploaded a few videos of what I've done. This includes one new glitch Pokemon you should know, and other really cool stuff. I just thought you guys should know.  ;)

Cool to know Pomegging is back.

It'll take a while to get Pomegging back into popularity, but it'll do good, hopefully :)
Got nothin' better to do.

HoO Forum Time-Warp v2 affected 0% of any worthwhile posts on the Pomeg Glitch Thread thanks to nothing being done over the summer. Or am I wrong?

EDIT: And yeah, I forgot to thank you guys for your contributions on the Pomeg Glitch page of the Wiki. ;)

Well, the last post was something about Zowayixx finding that his Pokemon only went to 65,533 for some reason. As far as I can remember, the only remotely interesting stuff happened a good while before that.

All right, but next time I suggest as soon as we get important posts we back them up to here or something.

I was going to test if my glitch (the glitch pokemon one) worked in a local battle but I would need to do some background first, do your pokemon get healed before going into a local batle (as in the upstairs battle rooms)?

I would imagine so. It's certainly the case in the 3rd Gen games anyway. What's cool about 3rd Gen is that it's possible to test a whole bunch of stuff about the Emerald Pomeg Glitch Pokemon because of the Secret Base feature. If you flick through a list of moves and abilities and stuff for Emerald, you could probably think of loads of odd things that could result from Emerald's result of the Shift Glitch.

They do, but it might be worth testing the move Fling with a Pomeg Berry after lowering the HP of the Pokemon to be Pomeg'd to the correct amount.

and the sea will come to kiss me
for I am going home

The Shift Glitch is what actually produces the glitch Pokemon. Basically, you have a Pokemon out with 0 HP. You then Revive a Pokemon that isn't the 0 HP Pokemon, and the game makes you select that Pokemon to send out. But here's the fun part. The game isn't used to this sort of timing (sending out a Pokemon when you were meant to attack or use an item) so it says [Your opponent] is sending out [the Pokemon you Revived], would you like to switch?

You're sending out a Pokemon, AND you're switching? So you select Yes. But this time, you have an option of sending out a Pokemon, or just plain Cancel. By selecting Yes, you have essentially 'reset' the process of sending out a Pokemon. When you hit 'Cancel,' it means that you have selected nothing, and the game goes on to send out a Pokemon.

However, you haven't specified any Pokemon to send out, so the game sends out its interpretation of 'nothing,' because that's what you sent out. In FireRed and LeafGreen, this is óË {é Áî, and in Emerald, it's a representation of your opponent's Pokemon, which copies most of its stats, but I've found that it often has the typing of Ghost/Poison for some reason.

EDIT: Yeah, it's called the Shift Glitch because it's an oversight in the programming of Shift. (As in the Battle Style, Shift or Set) Forgot to include that.
