Here I have a proposed list of when you obtain and are able to use the games HM's. Vote in the poll if you think that the order is good. Also, these are only the normal HM's. If we end up adding out own, you would not need a gym badge for them but something else. So with out further ado, here is the proposed list.

Gym One: Rock Smash
Gym Two: Cut
Gym Three: Strength
Gym Four: Rock Climb(Changed)
Gym Five: Surf
Gym Six: Fly
Gym Seven: Dive
Gym Eight: Waterfall

Also here is the link to the game map for a reference. So just say what you think.

Judging by the extremely detailed map you've given us as a reference, I have to say that these are awesome graphics. With graphics this awesome, we don't need HMs. These graphics are so awesome, they've eliminated the need for technical scenery like cuttable trees, and climbable waterfalls.[/sarcasm]

Yeah that should be fine.

I recently acquired a 160GB Hard Drive. For $12, it seemed like a good idea. Now, I have no idea what to do with that much space...

I dispise flash as a HM as much as Defog...

But what would replace them?

What about Rock Climb and Defog? (though, Defog's more of a TM than anything)

We could just group it under the 1st gym if it deals with rocks.

I think we should have Whirlpools as well since it was
a cool way to go form one place to another, Like in GSC
the Whirl Islands.. I'm not saying we should have GSC features
Just the HM Wirlpool.

And to GARY defog feels kind of pointless.

Rock Climb would be good for mountaines places
and I have to say the map doesn't look like it could have
a lot of mountains, but we still don't know  the actual
geography of the game so you guys can't really decide yet.

How about just not have HMs at all? They're possibly the least fun thing of the Pokemon series.

Unfortunately, removing HMs would be disastrous to gameplay. Unless we did away with storyline completely. And thanks to the fact that very few of us have any dominance in the matter, that's not gonna' happen.

You know what? I forgot something. Flash does suck. I had also forgotten that Rock Climb was an HM. Haven't picked DP in a while.
Replacing Flash with Rock Climb sounds like a good idea.

Let's have the ability to unlearn HMs, I'm getting sick of my starter knowing mostly HMs halfway through the game. :\

Edit: Also, any main 8 HMs that we're not making up/making up can be HMs.  Any leftover main ones can be like SMs (Super Machines) which are reusable techniques that have Overworld effects that do not need a badge to be able to be used on the Overworld.

Yes to both those things.  However, I think that the blank TMs should be priced at 9800.

Hmm...It seems like we should invent an HM that has never been invented though. (thinking).....Oh, I know! In Pokemon ranger, there are 2 field abilities, air lift and elevate that get you across gaps and raise you up a floor in a cave. What if we used something like those?

There could also be something like riding a Pokemon in the overworld, instead of using a bike or running shoes, and maybe the Pokemon could jump up those small ledges or something.
