Small change in nomenclature - read if you want to be current
« on: December 17, 2007, 02:55:29 am »
At work today I had an epiphany.

I just realized that the glitches would probably not be calling themselves "glitches", as it sounds rather derogatory. So I tried to find a better, more "politically correct" name for these beings by consulting with some fellows on IRC. The result is mojibake. From now on that will be the technical name of that particluar class of beings.

Here is how it should go down as far as names are concerned:
mojibake: The "correct" term. Used universally by that group, as well as by some humans who have a high opinion of them (ex. Team Enigma).
glitch: Informal term used mostly by humans. Comparable to "redneck". May also be used informally by some mojibake.
bug, garbage: Derogatory terms used by hate groups (i.e. Team Normal). Comparable to "n*gger".

As far as groups go, though:
Glitch Protection Syndicate -> The Mojibake Society
Pokemon/Glitch Patrol -> Pokemon/Mojibake Patrol (up to debate)

Note: The title of the series remains Glitch Wars.

Cool. I like the word and its definition. And you're right, glitches would not call themselves glitches b/c that's a name humans gave to them.

Interesting. I'd have called them something else if had been my story, but if this had been my story, it would been something entirely different-probably something similar to Family Guy (with the flashbacks and skits and reenactments and all), except PG rated so the younger members of the forum could read it. But then again this isn't my story, so...
"Mr. Weed? I can't come to work today. I was in a terrible plane crash. My entire family was killed and I am a vegetable. I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Mr. Toad, how many licks of you does it take to get to the center of a Rhode Island state prison?"
(BAM!)
"JUST ONE."

No, No! Beer bring pain!

I think, therefore I am. I think.

The mayfly lives only one day. AND SOMETIMES, IT RAINS.

"My, my, hey, hey, Rock and roll is here to stay. It's better to burn out, than to fade away, My, my, hey, hey."-Neil Young

"I'm sitting on the corner feeling glad.
Got no money coming in but I can't be sad.
That was the best cup of coffee I ever had.
And I won't worry about a thing because we've got it made,
Here on the inside, outside so far away."
-"Inside", by Jethro Tull

Makes an extremely lot of sense. But wouldn't the anti-glitch/mojibake people still cal them "gitches"? Just a thought.
