R/B/Y(/G/S/C) Table file
« on: December 22, 2009, 09:54:11 am »
An R/B/Y(/G/S/C also i think) .tbl file.

I updated it with values from the big list.
% = female symbol
# = male symbol
£ = P ( could have used $ but they look similar )

Get a specialised hex editor like WindHex to view the rom with a tbl.

I'm not quite sure what this does (too lazy to find a mac hex editor) but it looks like you've done something good.  So good job!

I just based it on a tbl i found (too lazy to do one from scratch)
then replaced ASH with (player), GARY with (rival), POK. with POKé, and added everything that wasn't there from the big list. Took quite a while heh.
RHYDON(endofname)(endofname)(endofname)(endofname) ftw. :P

I think adding in bold characters and borders just adds noise, as those characters are never actually used in text. Keeping it with just normal characters plus POKé and character names keeps things simple and easy to read.

Also using a single character for nulls and DTE makes it easier to type things. Say we have “50=(endofname)”. This means that to type, say, item names, we enter:
MASTER BALL<tab>50<tab>ULTRA BALL<tab>50<tab>GREAT BALL<tab>50<tab>…

If instead we have “50=$”, we can go:
MASTER BALL$ULTRA BALL$GREAT BALL$…
and have the same effect. The same would apply for POKé.

ok. I did the things you suggested, also changing "POK<accent e>" to "POK<normal e>", "(Player)" to Red, and "(Rival)" to Blue.
