You don't seem to have understood the way 8F Code Execution executes code.

Maybe you can find what you need by reading this: http://forums.glitchcity.info/index.php?topic=7906.msg204874#msg204874

Hope this helps, but don't hesitate to ask more specific questions if needed :)

Generation VII Glitch Discussion / Re: Spiky Shield Sky Drop glitch

Before this glitch is patched to everyone with the latest update, do we know what happens when you finish by winning a battle with only a zombie Pokémon?

Do you black out or just hang around with a team of fainted Pokémon?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M32v9L5jGjQ
Doing this in a link battle just skips you but we should try this with rocky helmet. Glitzer Popping Part 2 Anyone?
O... You can't hit that slot.
GOD, would this be easier in BW2

Yes it skips you, but if you're invincible and can't play, the opponent will Struggle to death. And if it's your only Pokémon, and if the game don't understand that your team is fainted, yeah it could lead to Pomeg glitch-related stuff.

I can't imagine the game launching a double battle with the sprites this way if it wasn't planned at first. Could it not be just GF implementing a funny way to battle them?

I don't think it has been studied before and should be possible, indeed. Do you know if it works between English and non-English European games?

Wow, this can be very interesting!

The mysteries of MissingNo.... I'm familiar with sprite overflowing into the sound bank causing the game to freeze when regular MissingNo. is encountered using Ditto/Old Man glitches in European R/B, but it's the first time I hear about the kind of softlocking you describe.

You can also change the nicknames of Pokémon stored in the PC using the right RAM addresses, still available on the datacrystal link :D

Yes, that's exactly what it means  ;)

Also remember a name is always terminated with an end marker (hex ID 50). If your name is 10 characters long, the 11th and last address is the end marker. If your name is shorter, there is an end marker after the last character.

If you shorten your name using 8F, don't forget to place an end marker after your last character to "delete" every extra character.

We receive a lot of questions about how to use 8F to do stuff. Sometimes these are very complex questions that requires some knowledge regarding opcodes, but sometimes, as it is the case with your request, you don't need to know much. This knowledge is already available here and elsewhere in the form of ready-to-use, well-explained setups in which you only have to change a few things using tables and lists that we also give and explain.

Although we are here to help people discover this glitch and how to use it, I would like to mention to you and all the others that will come after, that if you just read what is already available, you can already answer your question. In fact, I strongly advise you to document yourself about 8F before trying to do it, even if you just use a code that someone gave you. It is always better to understand what you do to use it the proper way.

Thus said, here's one answer to your question.

To get the 8F item, you can use the celadon loop as described here: http://forums.glitchcity.info/index.php?topic=6638.0
As a proper Pokémon setup, you can use this: http://glitchcity.info/wiki/Arbitrary_code_execution#Using_8F_.28English_Red.2FBlue.29

Now, select the RAM address you would like to change using, for example, this list: http://datacrystal.romhacking.net/wiki/Pokemon_Red:RAM_map
Here, let's say you want to change the letter 1 of your first Pokémon's nickname. This is address $D2B5.

Now, select the value you want to put in it using, for example, this list: http://glitchcity.info/biglist.htm
Here, let's say that you want to change that letter for the number "4". As you can see, it matches hexadecimal $FA.

(On a side note, understand that what you are about to do is asking for $D2B5 to take the value $FA. As a result, this corresponds to using the gameshark code 01FAB5D2).

To trigger the 8F code, use this item setup. It's a generic setup for one-value changing codes:
- Any item at any quantity
- 8F
- Lemonade xAA
- X Accuracy xBB
- Carbos xCC
- Poké Ball, x119
- Fresh Water x201

AA, BB and CC are decimal translation of the three red, blue and green values (your RAM address and the value to give to it). You can translate hexadecimal to decimal with the windows calculator, or just the abovementioned list (http://glitchcity.info/biglist.htm). Here, it says 250, 181 and 210.

Once you're ready, just use the 8F item :)

Hello,

I haven't tested and I did that a bit quickly so it contains annoying items/quantities for which underflow trick/other 8F codes will be required probably.
But unless I missed something it should do the following things if you have a Mew in your party's first slot in european yellow games only:
- Change Mew's IV to dec:10 (Was it the point? I don't know how that shiny determination works)
- Change Mew's ID to dec:22796 (not sure about this, because I don't know if ID is BCD. Can someone tell?)
- Change Mew's OT to "GF"

First, have the following Pokémon in your active Pokémon storage box in the PC:

Tangela with 233 HPs currently)
Nidoking
Metapod
Haunter
Flareon
Parasect
Kadabra
Tentacool
Grimer
Another random Pokémon, but just one

Then prepare the following inventory, and use ws*l’||lm|:

[Anything]
ws*l’||lm|
ThunderStone x134
TM09 x62
Moon Stone x119
Hp Up x119
TM01 x[any quantity]

Then prepare the following inventory, and use ws*l’||lm|:

[Anything]
ws*l’||lm|
ThunderStone x124
TM09 x62
Burn Heal x119
HM03 x77
Secret Key x79
Poké Ball x113
TM01 x[any quantity]

Then prepare the following inventory, and use ws*l’||lm|:

[Anything]
ws*l’||lm|
ThunderStone x121
TM10 x4
Lemonade x128
Burn Heal x119
Ice Heal x198
Poké Ball x60
Secret Key x119
Fresh water x43
Potion x119
TM01 x[any quantity]

You should be able to use a standard setup while adapting the codes to modify the first Pokémon in your team. Since German and French have the same RAM addresses, I should be able to design something for you later this day (later for us)

Generation I Glitch Discussion / Re: Expanded Experience Underflow

Yes, as ISSO said. The idea of this method is to transform a medium-slow lvl 1 Pokémon into a wanted Pokémon, that will retain the medium-slow profile. So, you put your medium-slow Pokémon in the first slot and you use the code with the dec ID of the WANTED Pokémon : it will change your first Pokémon to that Pokémon and gaining the exp will trigger the glitch.

This was not however designed to trigger the glitch on a lvl 1 non-medium-slow Pokémon that you already have :)

I believe indeed it is very important to explain the glitches for those who would like to understand them. This is why on PRAMA we always try to write an optionnal "technical explanation" section for every single page we write. When I personally don't know something about a 1G glitch, I usually ask ISSOtm since he's the team expert for these. Otherwise I ask here or I annoy Torchickens :D

Well those pages are in French obviously but if you need something that we wrote you could probably Google translate or just ask! We might wanna add a similar feature here for the glitches in the wiki that still requires explanation.

I need to check that again, I seem to remember we had trouble with other routes in french games. Thanks!
