Title: "The Celebi glitch"
Post by: Sherkel on October 08, 2007, 09:15:39 am
Commenting is disabled (finally) for obvious reasons, so if anybody still has anything to say, do so here. Anyway, I was wondering:
-Is it actually possible?
I don't want just unthought "Yes" or "No"s, I wany to know how it could be possible. It doesn't make sense to me that something could be that rare (highest techically possible is 65536 right?).
Just wanted to ask that, and this can be the thread replacing the comments. Delete this if you want.

Celebi's rarity is offically 45. It works backwards. Things like Caterpie are rarity 255.
Celebi has the same rarity as something like a Lunatone or a Solrock. It is rare but not impossible.

Come on. Latios/as is 3. 45 is nothing. I even set a pokemon to rarity 1 and I still found it.
It would have to be a special code, which I doubt exists.

That would mean it is extremely common, compared to 15453 or whatever people were saying.

No, 255 is extremely common. (it is only 2 digit (FF))

So its only about 6 times rarer than a Caterpie. Is it logarithmic?

Has anyone hear ever heard of anyone getting Celebi via this glitch? (besides some random n00b yelling ZOMG I GOTZ CELEIBEE!)

No. I never have. Neither has anyone I know.

A certain "MissingNo. Master" of Serebii.net forums mentions that he got a real Celebi in every Celebi-related thread, but it's hard to take him seriously when you note how zealous he is about it (his Location: "The Celebi Glitch is real!!!")

Yep I've seen that. So anyway, it actually IS real. Good to know..

Who said it was real?
If we could find out the exact probablity we could serach that value and reduce it down to 1 so every wild pokemon would be celebi, but that would prove that it is real.
the highest likely value is 4,294,967,295 to 1 Which would be FFFFFFFF

I thought you said the rarity is 45?

Yeah, so is a lot of pokemon you can't find. Mew, Mewtwo, Alakazam...just about anything

Wait, 45 is impossible to find? :???: This is getting a bit hard to foillow :-X.

Wait, 45 is impossible to find? :???: This is getting a bit hard to foillow :-X.
As I understand it rarity relates to the probability of catching with a Poke Ball, not the possibility of encountering the Pokemon.

Is it? Then what is it's rarity. I haven't actually checked if rarity makes any difference, so I don't actually know. :/
It probably is how easy it is to catch.

Well there must be a variable for rarity though, right? If so then how rare could they possibly make Celebi, if it is around 1 in a million then we're getting somewhere.

To be honest, I'm not so sure this is even real. I'd need some decent evidence before I'd believe this (then again, I didn't believe in the Mew Trick at all, passing it off as a stupid fake, and THEN I found convincing evidence that led to believe it, try it, and, indeed, get him and trade him to my Gold game, so....)

Nobody is sure if it is real or not.

Nobody is sure if it is real or not.
I think that the Celebi glitch should be replaced with the Celebi Trick (Bad Clone trick)
The Celebi glitch is a load of bullshit

Damn straight, Newo.
Couldn't say it better myself.

There is no proof, so yes, I suppose it is.

That it's a big load of crap?
I doubt this could happen anyway.
It seems about as likely as you finding a wild Mew OUTSIDE OF THE MEW TRICK AND GAMESHARK-NEVER.

Only reason it would happen to anyone anyway would be dropping the game and havong something happen (once somebody got tons of shinies).

Dropping the game. Hmm...Makes sense. Once, when I dropped my Gold and knocked the batteries out the Gameboy in the process (I never found one of the two), I turned it back on after putting the battery and a new one in, and I was in the glitch dimension...I also dropped my Silver once and encountered glitch Pokemon up the yingyang and saving actually erased my file. Ouch.

Shouldn't you never mix old and new batteries?

What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! You shouldn't? Why?

I don't THINK that was it...

I see that on about every electronic I see...
Title: Re: "The Celebi glitch"

What's it supposed to do? Does it actually damage the device?

I didn't knock out the batteries with the Silver, but IT ERASED MY GAME.

I remember dropping Ruby once (dang dogs) and my game froze with a loud buzzing sound. Luckily it was okay once I reset it...

I dunno if I believe this or not. Probably not.

Completely off topic, who has heard the thunder glitch before. (That is caused by random error corruption, maybe Celebi glitch is too (if it is real (which I doubt)))

Dropping the game can cause quite a bit of error, so it is possible, but very unlikely.

It defintely is possible, the dude had screenshots.
PS. This got split :P :D.

By the way, what's supposed to happen if you put an old battery in with a new one?

ZOMG I GOTZ CELEIBEE!

Heh, I hear that one a whole damn lot.

That belongs in MY battery thread! ;)
That could be a way to open up the so-called Celebi glitch though.
Oh and mixing old and new I don' know. Just appears on about every electronic I see.

I'll bet it's just some crap they're trying to make us believe...

BTW, I got a new avatar, see?

And I was just about to say about your new avatar ;).

I was talking about the old/new batteries. I've put an old battery in with a new battery many times, and it has done nothing to my GBA.

Thanks for noticing. I like this one better.

Batteries I'm not sure...if it doesn't say anything on the GBA/GBC/GB instructions or whatever about it, then it may not apply. Messing with the batteries, (back on topic) could be a very probable way to activate a Celebi encounter, though it would be the same chance for any other PkMn.
We don't seem to really be getting anywhere... :-\

No, we don't seem to.

Perhaps we should replace this with the G/S/C Celebi glitch.

No, they definitely have nothing to do with each other.
Title: Re: "The Celebi glitch"
Post by: King Homer on October 15, 2007, 05:24:35 pm
Well, yeah, but it's far more possible than this. In fact, you can do it without dropping your game.

In my opinion, this should be locked. Just my opinion, though.

I made this origionally as the new place to discuss the "glitch", as suggested by a few that I don't exactly know. If anybody still wanted to talk about it, which some seemed to, they could continue here.

Oh, all right.

But this seems to be useless at the moment.
Title: Re: "The Celebi glitch"
Post by: Sherkel on October 15, 2007, 05:33:31 pm
It does. :)
And in reply to a previous post, it MAY be possible without dropping your game. That was just a theory of mine.
I guess we should stop now ;).

Yeah. So I'm guessing this should be locked?
