Title: Tilesets
Post by: Zach the Glitch Buster on December 13, 2007, 02:50:36 pm
What tilesets should we use for this fan game? If we can get them or not is not the issue at hand.

G/S/C, mainly due to the person who is doing the mapping is using Gold Silver and Crystal.

First off, I can't vote for some reason.

Second, I'm doing it in G/S/C because all I have is G/S/C. If I had D/P, I'd use it. But, I don't. Sadly.

As I said I can get tilesets, its not hard. And why does everyone think that Hydrall is the only one who can sprite?

Not spriting, mapping, i think.

Oh whatever, He's not the only one messing with the graphics. There is that broad enough to get my point across?

Here are your freaking R/S/E tilesets. Can we just use these?

Where'd you get that?!  :o

I seem to have angered you in some way Zack. What have I done, and how can I remedy it? I don't want to make anyone my enemy, especially not when I'm doing something to help. So, explain, why do you seem angry?

If its because I'm working on this and taking too much power, I'll gladly back off.

Ok, first you the first person who saw frustration and addressed it in an intelligent way.  I just want to say, you haven't angered my in any way. What tees me off is when my computer has a brain fart, so I was just generally frustrated.  And if anyone should worry about taking two much power, it would be me.  So you don't need to worry. Also your doing a lot more then a lot of other people around here. not naming names *coughitemdexcough*So you dont need to back off, just keep on going, but I just like R/S/E better and I didn't want to see that go down the drain just because no one had the tileset. So I found it. So again thanks for using intelligence.

FYI its zach

RBY, because that is the main glitch genre.

Ditto here, for glitched up/glitch-involving places at least.

PEOPLE!

R/B/Y is too limited! If we make it that, we cannot make the Glitched Locations glitchier.

The idea is to have Jacred cause the world's order to detoriate, sliding towards the the first dimension (A line of nothing). So, it SHOULD be R/S or above, but G/S/C could work too.

R/B/Y shall only be used for glitch locations. Zach, do you agree?

Yes I do. Black and White is retro and all but its very limited. No modern game is black and white. People like color, and we should save Black & White for glitch attacks. The change from Color to Black & White or vice versa is quite a shock. Wizard of Oz anyone? So R/B/Y is a bad idea.

I would prefer to colourise RBY.... It is TEH GAME.

Anyway, it is for glitch hunters, who are familiar to Black and White.

Well Newo, the idea is that towns attacked, or infected or whatever, by glitches get glitched up in black and white. So what were saying is that R/S/E for a normal town, and Black and White for glitchy encounters.

I like that idea a lot.

Well, if we're going for smost hock factor, then we could use the D/P sprites for the normal world. That might be too extreme, though, so R/S/E would probably be best.

As a side note, it might be interesting if someplace high-ranking like the Pokemon League was done DP-style. But that might get complicated.

I like D/P but one major problem is no one has the tilesets for D/P. If someone finds them we would put some thought into D/P. putting together the 3D would be hard, but worth it for places like the Pokemon League.

Well, despite all this the tilesets seem to be for GSC, it's not really debatable now with all the work Hydrall's done.

Again, G/S/C is all I've got. I actually do have some D/P sprites. They're limited, but thanks to Ghost, I've got...

Basic terrain, sign, water, and two houses.

I like G/S/C tiles and all, but the problem with those is that we'll have to devamp over 250 Pok?mon and trainer sprites for consistency.

I did post a download link for the R/S/E tileset on the last page. We can use that. If you don't have it, then go download it.

Look, lets just use the damn R/S/E tilesets. I converted Hydrall's first map into R/S/E tilesets a I say that it just look better due to the more modern look. Hydrall, If you starting using the R/S/E tilesets, I'll convert all you have done into R/S/E. But come on, not to be mean, I know Hydrall was using them cause it's all he had, but they suck. There old but not retro cool old. So, please I'm fucking begging here. Can we just use the damn R/S/E tilesets? It'll save us the work of recoloring everything else when the time comes.

EDIT: I know I forgot the water that was in Hydrall's original map. I'll put that in later.

TOWN IS FTW. Please keep doing that kind of awesomeness!

I'm not too good with the 'overlapping trees' part. I have trouble keeping it consistant. You, though, do damn well.

Well the R/S/E tilesets have trees that are meant to overlap, so its easier then G/S/C ones.
So I'll keep converting stuff because that seams a good idea.

Well, people interpreting the size of the text as the volume of my voice. Thats interesting. So I screamed, had a bad day, I could change it but I don't want to because it reflects my mood at the time.

Also, I have done most of the inside of the first town. I'll do the lab later.
I left the people out because that how its done when making a game.

Hmm... I think its missing a desk, though.

Also, is it able to be used in game? The tiles have to fit, for the player to walk on it.

1) It is missing a desk, mainly because I couldn't fit a third one in there.

2) It is able to be used in the game, its on a 16 by 16 pixel grid, which is what the Pokemon games use.

Not only that, but no one in this town, except the professor, knows anything at all about Glitches. Even then, she knows little.

Also, remember that Abwayax is the glitch professor- He's supposed to research Glitches in the Glitch Regions.

You know, FR/LG is like a more advanced version of RBYG! So RBYG is the main operatage base for glitches, but we want the game to look more advanced!  :P Sorry if I was the only one who hadn't noticed this.
