Title: Project Caspar
Post by: xparasite9 on May 21, 2008, 08:53:38 pm
Since Abwayax doesn't care about it at all, I'm using my super secret Stalin powers to take over. Project Caspar is now named Gaspar, to reflect these changes.
http://zelda.glitchcity.info/ already has a CSS theme up, and the leftmenu is complete.
http://mario.glitchcity.info/ has a leftmenu. I can't think of a good color scheme for it. If not for that, the CSS would be done.

I've yet to see a combination of those two colors that doesn't make one want to gouge his eyes out with a rusty railroad spike.

Green and blue?

That's Luigi you fool! *Smacks Super Fivex around the head with a hammer* But... how about a Mario level style back ground? That may work.

The colors are good but that "hlghlight" color around the title of the pages and the "We have fourms" add really sucks.  Also, we should just organize the games by console. No need to have a section for remakes or anything, just NES, SNES, N64 Etc Etc.

EDIT: I fixed this on the Mario part of the site. Now someone should do the sonic game.

This also applies to the sonic games

What, the red? Hey, if you think you can find a better contrasting color, be my guest.
Also, we should just organize the games by console. No need to have a section for remakes or anything, just NES, SNES, N64 Etc Etc.
dammit. >.<
you know, I obviously formatted it that way for a reason. It's easier to find a game if it's listed by category, especially if it's the Mario Kart spinoff or Mario Party, or whatever.
But, it's been long ago since I last looked at how I had it organized, so f**k it. leave it at the way it is, naming errors and all. Yes, that's right. If you're going to completely change something I did, at least don't half-ass it. You have games in wrong categories, categories are not in chronological order, games within categories are not in chronological order, the whole thing is a freaking mess, thanks to you.

Hell, I think thats bull s**t. Its harder to locate games by category if your not some die hard Mario fan. How the hell is anyone going to know that "Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2" is a remake over a real game? Hell, I'll admit its not the best origination I've ever seen but its still easier to navigate. So quit bitching about it. Also, you really think that I would spend an hour and a half changing something around without first making a backup of the original? Geez, give me a little credit.

It's way... ugly, it  needs to be mostly  a single color. You also still have this to do. (http://zelda.glitchcity.info)
EDIT:Wait, it's done already? It needs a link from the other three. EDIT2:I did not notice that, did someone just put it there?

No, they didn't. It's been there.

Also, the yellow text in the Mario scheme should be replaced with red, imo.

I think red or true yellow would work.

Well, regardless I'm sorry I went and changed it up with out your, or anyone else's for that matter, consent. Next time, I'll actually wait for a response.

Why, of course! XD
Unfortunately, that exact Yellow file got deleted recently...this is why you can never trust used games. Ah well, I'll restore everything onto my Red. It was a fun playthrough.

Sorry, looked like that dark yellow color, you know the one in MS paint oh forget it.

WHATEVER THAT COLOR IS, should be replaced with the same red imo.

Ok, well the colors need to be changed. Just look at the pages here (http://mario.glitchcity.info/mariodocs/NES-SMB) and then tell me the colors are good. Ideas on what they should be?
Mind you, I don't know how to change this and I don't think I have the "authority" or whatever to do so.

eh... idk. the colors are kind of okay. (if you can make a better css theme. upload it in a post and I'll check it out.
also, for the list items, we need something like a small mushroom or something, because the pok?ball isn't going to cut it.

Zach. PLEASE make sure there's not already an article before you make one. And it's Fiery Mario, not Fireball Mario.
And since this site is encyclopedic, please refrain from using words like "you", "I", "my".
And when you add the "-ing", you drop the "e"
And it's Super Mario, not "big Mario"

No, it's it's fire mario -_-.
"Collecting a Fire Flower changes the player into Fiery Mario or Luigi, granting the ability to throw fireballs" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Bros.#Gameplay)
but I am willing to let your point slide, since it was "Fiery Mario" only in the original's manual.

And since this site is encyclopedic, please refrain from using words like "you", "I", "my".

And when you add the "-ing", you drop the "e"
She/he might be british
Britain still follows the "drop the 'e'" rule.

And it's Super Mario, not "big Mario"
They mean the same thing.
but we're trying to keep the terminology consistent with Nintendo's terminology, aren't we?

Zach. PLEASE make sure there's not already an article before you make one.
What do you mean?
Uh... due to the fact that there were no pages about Mario at all when I made these pages, that was never an issue.
And it's Fiery Mario, not Fireball Mario.
No, it's it's fire mario -_-.

SO sorry my "Nintendo Terminology" is off slightly. Its close enough and if would like to change it, I've got no issues.
And since this site is encyclopedic, please refrain from using words like "you", "I", "my".

And when you add the "-ing", you drop the "e"
She/he might be british

Ok, Ok, I'm fucking retarded and always keep the E there. Sorry, I try to proofread these but well, I'm bad at it. Also, the "encyclopedic" thing... when was that introduced? Cause if you look back a s**t load of my pages have You in them. Though I do try to keep out anything that refers to me such as "I" or "Me". And no I'm not British, American cops are SO much more fun to speed away from.
And it's Super Mario, not "big Mario"
They mean the same thing.
but we're trying to keep the terminology consistent with Nintendo's terminology, aren't we?
Uh... I thought we were just keeping up with realistic terminology. Ergo, what normal people.
Anyways, I make pages. Some may suck in terms of spelling and terminology but there pages. So until I see more "key people" making more pages, you'll just need to fix any errors you see. Sorry, but I do what I can.

I need a better <li> image. because a Pok?ball doesn't make sense in a Mario Page. Same thing with the Zelda part.

How big are the images? In pixels?  Because if I know that I'll make mini mushrooms and swords.

I find it funny that you think some of us should know and care, considering some of us have ever played those games. Yuzi's still around, right? But, fine. I'll make the same set-up for the Sonic pages as I did for Mario and Zelda.
on second thought I'll leave it to somebody else. I'd have to re-do the leftmenu, and I really don't feel like it.

but it needs to be reconfigured, unless you want the admin interface clogged up with twenty different directories, when some of them will only hold a few glitches at most. ah, hell. I'll do it because you guys are liable to screw it up.
EDIT: done, http://glitchcity.info/admin/docs/sonicdocs I have a few in there to show you how to do it.

Post by: xparasite9 on July 24, 2008, 10:35:29 pm
hmm.... since there are some glitches in SM64DS that only work depending on which version of the game you're using, I suppose I could try to use my awesome now-fail PHP skills to make a bit of a user interface to make the glitch show up on the condition of what you submitted. yeah... four buttons, VER1, VER2, EUR, and AUS, and use a form, and... wait does PHP have an OR statement? I'm so used to thinking in BASIC because TI-BASIC was the first programming language I learned. but I'll check.
EDIT: yes, it's ||
so... I guess I'll get working on it. don't worry, I'll fail miserably.

Should we have console sub-sites as well (eg. gameboy.glitchcity.info, ps2.glitchcity.info) or am I taking "Verging Outwards" too far? I was just thinking that we could escape from rather niche categories into a bigger world, you know adding new games like Halo, Call of Duty, Pong, Pacman, Space Invaders, Lego Star Wars and other games, not just Pokemon, Zelda, Mario and Sonic. Because except in glitch research, not many people play most of the older games.

This would make the site much more popular. Although I may just be going mad. Keep the Big categories as there own sites, but have several small Misc glitches and Glitch lists on Various pages in Console categorized sites.

Just a thought.

uhh... There is such a thing as "biting off more than we can chew", ya know.
also...
here (http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/920758/41610) is a SM64DS glitch faq. Obviously we can't just copypaste it onto the site, so... whoever has SM64DS, re-write it. I'm not talking about paraphrasing here. You must read the FAQ, learn how to do a glitch, and without looking back at the FAQ, write a semi-detailed description on how to do it. That'll be the best, and most legal, way to do it.

finished coding the page. note that this is just an outline, no actual content is in there, so don't go putting it on the site. If someone else wants to actually do something and not let me get all the glory, code the form. If you don't know how,  W3C has a nice little tutorial on the <FORM> tag. *cough* honestly, you don't need it. just make a form that works with the file I uploaded. It doesn't need to go up on the site yet, because there's yet to be any content.  you know what? it's not really anything I should fret about. It's less than maybe a paragraph's worth of coding. certainly much less than what I just did. plus, I might be starting to catch my second wind.

I know it has been several months since someone last posted here but I'm proud to say that I'm going to be a major contributor to this project because I seem to find more glitches when the games aren't pokemon. (Actually its more like the glitches find me. I seem to have a nack for getting into trouble like that.)
