Although u 8 can't be caught, you can find one with a glitch character by the Old Man Trick. It is my favorite glitch and I even stole it from the trainer!
Title: Re: Favourite Glitch pokemon (of the more famously known ones)
Post by: Newo on September 10, 2006, 06:41:03 am
That is why I now have added u 8 so you can vote for It

Please vote and make make work worthwhile!!!

Post by: Abwayax on September 10, 2006, 11:30:02 am
A question.

I don't see u 8 in the glitchdex. What hex is it? I'm sure I have it in there, but under a different name...

...*swears about people using different names* it gets so freakin confusing
Title: Re: Favourite Glitch pokemon (of the more famously known ones)
Post by: Sasara on September 10, 2006, 12:17:40 pm
Yes, it's under a different name, but I'm not sure which. Although I'm sure its hex is CA and it's in Pokemon Red and Blue. So... its entry in the GlitchDex would be... PC4SH?! I got to recatch the Pokemon and find out what its hex is...

Newo, I hope you don't mind I had to edit your poll to change my vote. If you want people to be able to change their vote, please say so.

Nope, u 8 is C9. And it's just called 8 in the Glitch Dex, but I added the u to it because there is a Japanese letter in the name, which sounds like U when said.

Oh. I ignore all the non-English and digit characters when creating Melchior, unless the Japanese u is the only pronounceable character.

Perhaps a more comprehensive naming convention would be wise... something simple like RBY-216 for english version glitches.

Although... a screenshot of the whole name displayed in the game would really help people locate their monster in the glitchdex.

As to my favorite... it'd have to be Q/Charizard M. It's like the magic genie of the game that grants you your wishes :P

Yeah. The problem with that, though, is getting other people to accept it - it would be kinda hard to force people to use names like "RB-255" instead of "Charizard 'M"
Title: Re: Favourite Glitch pokemon (of the more famously known ones)
Post by: rby4ever on September 11, 2006, 01:40:14 am
That's fine - Charizard M is actually a pretty comprehensive name. It's the lesser known ones such as "u 8", or "Female Symbol" that aren't all that memorable... and are downright awkward.

yeah...

although if we named them like "RB-234" or w/e, they'd have to flip through every page to look for their glitch, seeing as how they probably know it by some other name

WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE ON ABOUT!!!!

1) I thought I made It so people could change there vote! (if it hasn't please make it so)
2) I will check the glitchdex first before adding any more glitches (I thought I have seen u 8 before!)
3) I have no idea what this RB-238 and stuff is about!
4) Anyone want more glitches!?
5) Is it actually C9?

I've decided ??? ??? will go around unconfirmed glitches
Title: Re: Favourite Glitch pokemon (of the more famously known ones)
Post by: Sasara on September 11, 2006, 10:03:40 pm
Yes, it's C9, and I changed u 8 to 8 and removed the ??? ???. Abwayax, why not put a list of a glitch's Pokemon different names in the GlitchDex?

Yeah, some of Charizard 'M's quirks are annoying, like it "Q-glitching" your Pok?mon when you don't want it to (when I first discovered the Q Glitch, I discovered it because a Charizard 'M had turned some of my best Pok?mon, including a Lv. 85 Venusaur, into Charizard 'Ms) and how it can't be healed by a Pok?mon Center. But the Q Glitch thing can be avoided if you're careful, and healing your Charizard 'M is easy enough if you use Missingno. to multiply a Full Restore. ;)

Not for nothing, but aren't the choices for that poll a little redundant? Q and CharM are about the same, same goes for 'M and MiNo.

I've grown to like CharM/Q a lot... hard to say no to a Pokemon that can essentially create the ultimate monster through splicing, no Gameshark required.
Title: Re: The Best glitch EVER!!!!
Post by: Newo on March 15, 2007, 12:14:53 pm
Well don't you generally need Gameshark inless you get it through a Superglitch or ZZAZZ

Anyway, CHARZARD 'M RULES!

And I decided to merge with an old topic because it had more options.
Sorry if this is annoying.

Hey by the way, I've read in your other posts you're having problems with your game... You know you can just open it up and take the battery out for 15 seconds and all the games ram and rom will be cleared and fresh like when you first bought it.
Title: Re: Best Glitch Pokemon
Post by: Newo on June 05, 2007, 01:20:14 pm
Isn't clearing your ROM a bad thing...?
Title: Re: Best Glitch Pokemon
Post by: Slax on June 06, 2007, 12:48:19 am
Isn't clearing your ROM a bad thing...?
Nope. By taking your battery out it just deletes all the memory the cartridge has, because the battery powers it's chipset. When you put the batter back in, the thing is fresh and will work like brand new, because the data will be. Why not use an emulator anyway?

You're absolutely right, it's RAM not ROM. Sorry, I wasn't thinking clearly >_<. But the fact still stands that when the battery is taken out all previous information can't be retained by the cartridge.

Forgive my unoriginality, but my answer is by far the truth. MissingNo is by far my most beloved Glitch Pokemon. It possesses a wide variety of specialties at its arsenial, and it's ability to jump around high levels makes it a superior offensive fighter. Water gun has always been a good move, but imagine having two of them! Now that makes an awesome Pokemon.

I like the female symbol glitch because it has crazy stats and a very nice movepool. The RB version of the female symbol glitch has crazier stats (I still yet have to find out the base stats and I'm pretty sure it's called Japanese symbol) but the movepool isn't as wide as the female symbol glitch. I also like Q but I just happen to like this one more.

Charizard M is awe-inspiring in its effects (see video in the ZZAZZ glitch thread), but I like the glitch trainers in general. I mean, what throws you for a loop more than encoutering a Trainer in the grass/water/cave when you least expect it?

Wow. Sweet! XD

I like the pink one :P

Interesting how the types are "half-scrolled" and how some are said to be encountered at Level 2 when they're at Level 0. I guess Lv.2 is as low as the encounter message can go...

Which reminds me of something slightly off-topic. I remember seeing screenshots of Ruby and Sapphire before they were released, and one of them showed a Treecko at Lv.1 O_o. So they originally planning to have Lv 1 Pokemon in R/S/E?

No, it is actually because I was in the Lv2 encounter area. (The first grass, bit)

I didn't think there has ever been a no-sharked+noglitch lv1

And with the type things. You can actually get Contest typed Pokemon. (First ones beyond normal types) EG. CUTE type, SMART type, TOUCH type...etc.

Like I said, it was before the game was released, so I think it was a beta shot that accidently got used.

Why didn't they start using Level 1 Pokemon until the fourth gen, anyway? I know in the old games there was that "fading exp" flaw, but they could've fixed that beforehand, right?

Newo, how are you finding these variants? I tried to use ARCrypt to create GS codes for them, but no dice there. I was able to generate codes for RSE:387, 388, 389, and 390 though.

I use the Action Replay Variable code. (Works with Gameshark I think)
0000B138000A
1003A82A0007
83007D22xxxx
And when you can't encounter them, I sometimes hack it into my party or PC, just to see it.
But for stats I use my extended stats editor. (But it freezes beyond hex 0300 or so)

Besides, glitch Pokemon often do evolve. M becomes Kangaskhan if you level it up, many glitches become Rhydon when you first catch them (though I dunno if that counts as a evolution, more of an error trap), and I think there's a glitch that evolves into Clefairy and then immediately evolves into Nidoking afterward.

My glitch hunting craze began a couple years back, during my second encounter w/ MissingNo (first time I didn't know about the HoF glitches and totally spazzed when I saw it). Nothing like just strolling down Cinnabar Beach and running into a Lv 132 Mewtwo XD. I've been picking up snippets of stuff since then.

Haven't done much of them, though. Mostly I've just read about them or watched them on youtube. Cool Ditto glitch is fun, though, espeically when the graphics have been screwed :P

Ok well I don't really plan to look for glitches, and I couldn't find any either, I'll just discuss about what I know myself and yeah, also this is not related to the topic so if you wish go make another thread.

Wait, are we talking about glitches in general or the ?x10 variants?

Glitches do have evolutions. [name=RB:000] and [name=Y:000] evolve into Kangaskhan at any level, and then into Clefairy at (I think) level 128. [name=RB:198] evolves into Clefairy and Nidoking.

And I once saw a G/S/C glitch evolve into Nidoran♂ around LV.8, but I can't remember which one!

Wait do you always name the glitches that way with images? Or does it work like smilies?

I know that I meant the ? variants Newo found in R/S/E.

My favourite glitches are Missingno and A ^.~

I remember getting A with a Gameshark back around 2000 or so with a mistyped code o.O;;

So, I might've been the first to discover the A glitch, although iirc I had to M-ball it twice because it changed to Rydon the first time >.>

I initially thought it was worthless (no attacks) until I gave it some Missingnoed rare candies, and then it learned a weird move TM34 at lv 7, followed by Tackle, which I used to overwrite TM34 with. I checked the A's stats, and it had Gullitine, Razor Wind, and Payday as well as Tackle.

Changing mine to 'M block (similar to MissingNo., but a less heard name), and Kabutops Fossil MissingNo, for its insane riggability and best looks out of the duplicant variants.

I like Missingno and Charizard 'M.
I also like .4 and Wild too, even though "Wild" is just a null data pokemon.

It's move. Without it, like if you equivalent traded a pPkMnp, it is as harmless as 'M.

Missingno. because it's the original glitch pokemon

Ghost Missingno. because, if you name it GHOST, you can get bragging rights ^_^

The best glitch and the one who suprised me the most is The Femal Symbol. The early time I was searching for glitch, I found this glitch to be unique, not only glitch sprite is all covered of purple, but it also play very weird tune each time. This scared me during glitch research

Basely yes.

Missing? NO!, FYI English isn't Darkness_LordII's first language so just keep that in mind.

best isn't necessarily favorite. For example, my favorite is the 3TrainerPok?, but it can be argued that the best is a Fossil/Ghost Missingno (which is also among my favorites)

I don't have any standard for the best, but my faves are YOP and oE {e Ai 'cos I discovered them.

And sorry for necro-posting, but I had to post this. You can learn more about these two in my halloforigin Pomeg Glitch Thread and the halloforigin Wiki, so feel free to update your own Wiki to these if you like.

Just sayin, chill out with the Caps Lock.
I don't really have a favorite...but M and Missingno could be on my favorites list.
I hate Charizard M though -__-

Hi glitch king, and welcome to Glitch City Labs forums! While we're glad to hear about your Egg, please keep in mind that proper grammar is expected here. On the internet "all caps" is considered "shouting" and is thus rude.

Again, welcome! :)
