Generation VIII Glitch Discussion / Re: Experience Candy glitch
« on: December 07, 2019, 10:22:35 am »
Yeah you can hatch evolved Eggs. For the party of three method (top, pokemon 2, Egg) it seems you need the second Pokemon and Egg Pokemon species to match (another says same line, but when I tried Caterpie slot 2 and Metapod Egg from previous use of the glitch it brought up the error?)  for this to work though, or you'll get the Switch error message which causes the game to close.
Probably has something to do with experience growth rate? Who knows!
Imagine you hatch an egg and a full-grown Grimmsnarl comes out of it...

So it's like the egg-viewing part of the Pomeg Glitch, except way easier and more useful.
AWESOME!

Generation VIII Glitch Discussion / Experience Candy glitch
« on: December 01, 2019, 09:03:00 am »
While watching AbsolVlogsPokemon's Level 100 Gauntlet videos (which are massively entertaining),  I noticed that he discovered an odd glitch while feeding Experience Candy to his Pokemon in his latest installment. Basically: If you select a Pokemon to feed the candy to and press down on the same frame, it will actually give the candy to the Pokemon BELOW the one you selected. This means you can give Experience Candy to Level 100 Pokemon, which normally isn't allowed, though the Pokemon's experience will not actually increase.
Now... what happens if you use Rare Candies?!

Seems kinda like an instance of Schrodinger's Douchebag where he initially made it just to trick people, but then told us that it was a metaphor for fake news or whatever after people called out that it was fake.

Pokémon Discussion / Re: Favorite Pokémon

Marshadow is my all-time favorite... it's just a little guy.

I also like the Porygon line, Shaymin, Smeargle, Reuniclus line, Mew...

Ooh, hybrids. Did you only encounter the Shellos hybrid?

I've noticed that most, if not all of the Glitch Pokemon in Gen 4 will crash the game whenever you do LITERALLY ANYTHING after catching them. RETIRE told me once (on his old account) that it corrupts the type of battle you're in (and probably some other stuff too) which makes me wonder if there's any possible way to get the game into a semi-playable state, or at least let you LOOK at the dang Pokemon.

Oh God, the title of this topic is my signature! D:

In all seriousness, good to have you back :P

After a year of being spared from my misery, I RETURN with this... thing.
It changes the species bytes of the first Pokemon in the current box!

"Stable" version:
Lemonade x(species index)
TM34 x129
TM18 x4
TM34 x150
TM18 x201
Code: [Select]
ld a, $xx
ld [$DA81], a
inc b
ld [$DA96], a
ret

"Unstable" version: (for making unstable hybrids)
Lemonade x(species index)
TM34 x129
TM18 x4
Lemonade x(recipient species)
TM34 x150
TM18 x201
Code: [Select]
ld a, $xx
ld [$DA81], a
inc b
ld a, $yy
ld [$DA96], a
ret

This isn't really useful and it's more of a "LOOK MOM I'M LEARNING ASM" thing, but it could be useful to you if you don't feel like getting a Charizard 'M and/or the Pokemon you want to merge?

EDIT: Here's something actually useful! It fills out your Pokedex (with an optional 152nd entry, if you want). Requires a few glitch items, but none of them have unterminated names. Yeah, dealing with CANCEL is annoying; sorry. D:

All 151:
X Accuracy x246
Carbos x210
HP Up x62
CANCEL (hex:FF) x119
TM50 x28
TM11 x254
CANCEL (hex:FF) x32
TM44 x4
Lemonade x127
TM34 x28
TM11 x234
Pokédex (hex:09) x211
TM01 x[Any qty]
Code: [Select]
;151 pokemon seen + caught
;hl=D322
ld l, $F6
ld h, $D2 ;hl=D2F6
inc hl ;hl=D2F7 on first loop
ld a, $FF
ld [hl], a ;set dex byte to FF
ld a, [$D31C]
cp a, $FF ; are all bytes set?
jr nz, $D326 ;if not, inc hl and do it again
inc b
ld a, $7F
ld [$D31C], a
ld [$D309], a ;getting rid of entry 152
ret

152nd entry:
X Accuracy x246
Carbos x210
HP Up x62
CANCEL (hex:FF) x119
TM50 x28
TM11 x254
CANCEL (hex:FF) x32
TM44 x201
Code: [Select]
;152 pokemon
;hl=D322
ld l, $F6
ld h, $D2 ;hl=D2F6
inc hl ;hl=D2F7 on first loop
ld a, $FF
ld [hl], a ;set dex byte to FF
ld a, [$D31C]
cp a, $FF ; are all bytes set?
jr nz, $D326 ;if not, inc hl and do it again

This is more of a "because you can" thing in the English versions, since the easiest way to get an ????? (FF) is through ACE already.

In other languages, though, this could be very useful! Although, the destroyed stack might make it impossible to continue playing...
10
There's a lot of oddly specific ones here...

Very useful, though. Thanks!
11
Cool! This could REALLY decrease the amount of A-presses!

It still amazes me that we can still find things in these games.
12
I love it when you can basically perform brain surgery on the game like this.

I would try it, but I'm currently iPad-bound... Maybe when VC comes out?

General Discussion / The Zhuangzi Game

AKA: "Simon's back on their bullshit again".

In all seriousness, I found somebody talking about this on Tumblr, and basically nobody else has even heard of it, so WHY NOT SPREAD IT?!?

Boop!

I don't really have any semblance of what's going on, but there IS a Discord server. So that's nice.
14
Maybe it only works on normal Game Boys, like that glitch where the player's sprite gets corrupted when using an Escape Rope?
15
Woah!
Nice find!
