Yellow is a Game Boy Color game, and Red/Blue/Green are Super Game Boy games, all of which can show distinct colors.

I don't have a Game Boy Advance SP to test with here, but I would be surprised if yours really turns off the colors for any of these games.

How could you possibly squeeze them in only right at the end? The game has at least 40 unique trainer types.

Oh yeah, you can also do some pretty nasty stuff if you try to heal after doing the ZZAZZ glitch. The game seems to try to heal 153 pokemon throughout the RAM.

Well, moves and stats are easy to patch in all versions, so I don't think that counts when people refer to hybrids.

Hybrid refers more to changing the color (through the extra byte) or changing the pokemon type, which seems to be possible only on the old red/blue/green/yellow ones.

Oddly it doesn't seem to say in the GlitchDex (which has only pokemon but not trainers matching these hex values), but you can find this info on TR's Rockin's hex list.

I lost my game even though it had a short name...
I has to be exactly a two-character name. A one-character name would still remove the name terminator with those 0x99's.

Really? Never happened with me (I used a Ditto and got off-the-wall results like with the ZZAZZ glitch without the namechange, but it never permanently erased or damaged my game...
I was referring to if you try to Save, which I am guessing you did not.

She means flying away before the battle starts, also known as the mechanism behind the Mew glitch.

I don't actually exactly remember how to get hybrids either...but they're just PkMn in the hex that are somehow like a real one, right?
Hybrids can refer to modifying only one of the two type-bytes in red/blue/yellow. It can also mean using codes to set the types (grass/water/electric) in creative combinations. I recall this doesn't work in gold/silver or later games.

There are plenty of ways to erase your game. Here's one: any name-modification code that removes the 0x50 at the end of your name is guaranteed to erase your game if you save.

That's how the ZZAZZ glitch can work to do damage. :)

Generall, it always puts Z (hex 0x99, decimal 153) pretty consistently in the same locations throughout memory. It will leave certain spots unchanged, such as the third character of your name.

For example, if your name is ASH, the first five characters if our name (at least) will become ZZHZZ.

If you have a two-character name (for example, AL), your name will become ZZ and you will be able to save your game in this new setting (without erasing it).

Basically any glitch that removes the the null terminator in your character's name will make the game erased when saving. You can prove this quite directly using the name-changing GameShark codes.

The ZZAZZ glitch has some consistency in this sense. If you choose a character name that is exactly two letters in length (for example, let's say AL), the ZZAZZ glitch will let you save your game with the new name ZZ. If your name is any other length, you are guaranteed to delete your game this way.

The gameshark version doesn't work, you have to do it with the ditto trick.
You found this the hard way? Well, great job anyway. :D

It can be done with GameShark codes. Just use 01FC59D0 (01FC58D0 on yellow) and flip the shark switch on and off.
