Emulation & ROM Hacking / Pokemon ROM Hacks - WTW On Demand
« on: August 16, 2019, 01:56:45 pm »
Finally figured out why my attempts to add WTW on demand to Yellow weren't working and fixed it, so here it is:

Walk Through Walls On Demand!

Hold SELECT to enable WTW. Simple as that.

These shouldn't change anything data-wise (so no glitch Pokemon/items should behave differently) but timing-wise things may have changed, so these may be incompatible with other hacks that hijack VBlank.
Included are IPS patches for Red, Blue, and Yellow, all US versions (for now :D ). These should ONLY be applied to "known-good" ROMs (eventually i'll make some utility or something to apply multiple VBlank hacks to one ROM with timing measurements and such automatically taken into account, but that's probably quite a ways away) so make sure you check DAT-o-Matic and match your ROMs to the listed "good" dumps before applying.

(Patches are attached to the post, if you're still looking for them...)

If anyone has any info on any international equivalent of the RAM address used (CD38), i'll see if I can make a similar patch for said language. Also, request patch ideas if you have them, maybe I can pull them off (a better RAM Corruption On Demand set is in the works at the moment, so it may be a bit.)
Ho, what's this? An entry-level Mac Pro from 2019?
Let's try and make a similar PC! :D

Project "Gotta Document 'Em All" / Obscure Dex TODO list
« on: April 30, 2019, 11:24:18 am »
This list is for Dexes with entries in the Databases page and what needs done to fix them up.

  • ValidSourceMapGlitchCityDex: Needs created. Could probably be automated and knocked out quickly.
  • AttackEffectDex: Completely unprofessionally written. Lots of "me"s and "I"s. Also, needs finished, and info needs retested.
  • BadgeDescriptionDex: Needs cleaned up, and info needs to be retested to be more technically explained.
  • BattleAnimationDex: Needs created. Maybe automate-able?
  • BattleTypeDex: Doesn't exist, description implies it does but it just goes to a disambiguation page for other articles.
  • BerryDex: Needs created. Could definitely be automated.
  • DayDex: Needs filled out, and needs a better viewing method documented.
  • DefaultNameDex: "glitch blocks" is not acceptable to put in names, ESPECIALLY not the way it's implemented here.
  • DexDex: Minor format issues in tables ("0" should be "00", etc.)
  • DollDex: Needs created.
  • ElevatorDex: Some entries just list "impossible", so fix those. Also, needs table-ized.
  • FacingDex: Needs table-ized. Also missing a few entries.
  • HitFlagDex: Info needs retested to be more technically documented, needs cleaned up for professionalism.
  • OverworldTileDex: Needs created. Very much automate-able.
  • PhoneDex: Needs created.
  • PlayerPaletteDex: Needs created. Very much automate-able.
  • PosterDex: Needs filled out. Minor misspelling fixes.
  • PredefDex: Needs created. Not really automate-able(?) but my Yellow predef list could be ported over to the Dex as a start.
  • RadioDex: Needs created.
  • RibbonDex: Needs created.
  • SlotSymbolDex: Needs created.
  • SoundbankDex: Needs created.
  • SpecialEmoteDex: Needs created.
  • StatDex: Needs filled out.
  • TMHMDex: Needs filled out.
  • TraderDex: Needs created.
  • TypeDex: Needs filled out.
  • UnownDex: Needs pictures of several entries.
  • WeatherDex: Needs created.

Several of these would be easy to knock out with some programming knowledge and the ROM(s).

parodies or smth idk

Sound of Silence Parody

Hello problems, my old friends
I've come to fight with you again
Because a driver softly creeping
Left its seeds while RAM was leaking
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of crashing

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow bands of networking
'Neath the halo of a burned-out fan
I turned my collar to the hot and spinning
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of an LED light
That split the night
And touched the sound of crashing

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand tasks, maybe more
Programs malloc with no swap
Programs writing with no space
Programs writing bits that voices never play
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of crashing

"Fools, " said I, "You do not know
Malware, like a plague, it grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my tools that I might help you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells, of crashing

And the programs bowed and prayed
To the malware god they made
And Windows flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And Windows said, "The words of the prophets are written in the event log
And dumped over COM"
And whispered in the sounds of crashing

might make more later
Does this ignore the Options menu's printer darkness setting?
Emulation & ROM Hacking / PS2 GBx Emulator accuracy report
« on: March 30, 2019, 02:03:11 pm »
i'm bored lol

The emulator is called InfoGB, and i'm using blargg's tests.

cgb_sound: Fails all but #10
cpu_instrs: Fails 1,2,3,8
dmg_sound: Fails all
instr_timing: Fails
interrupt_time: Fails
mem_timing: Hangs GB
mem_timing-2: Hangs GB
oam_bug: Fails all but #3 and 6
halt_bug: Fails

Rating: Fucking terrible, doesn't even emulate POP instructions.
Some idiot at my school won't shut the hell up about wanting a legit Deoxys in FireRed. How can I trigger the event to shut him up? Glitches are fair game, but he's emulating (RetroArch/mGBA, on a Chromebook) so no trading.
Generation II Glitch Discussion / Digression about VC inaccuracy
« on: March 01, 2019, 03:18:30 pm »
don't use VC. VC is inaccurate as hell.
Remember the game "Terrifying 9/11"? No?

good because it's garbage

EXCEPT for the fact that BGB won't run it because something something custom pirate cart.

well, yet. That's what i'm trying to accomplish, anyway.

This is further than the stock ROM, at least. Stock ROM just turns off the LCD and hangs in one of various ways.

(Probably not gonna stop trying either because why not I can use the experience)

Debate Wars / Gun Control in the US
« on: March 15, 2018, 09:50:17 am »
I'd love to hear the opinions of other people on gun control/gun bans in the US, as that's a hot topic right now.

Personally, I feel that weapons like pistols, shotguns, rifles, etc. are fine as they are, but weapons that can be more powerful, exotic weapons, weapon platforms (AR-15), etc. should require extra training (along the lines of conceal carry training and certification) to be owned (unless modified to be inoperable, like a prop or smth). And, of course, you'd need the training to buy the ammo too (something like presenting the certificate of training when you go to buy it).
