I see you brought up White Hand and Buried Alive. It's a shame you didn't bring up the binaural beats that are apparently present in the Lavender Town theme in the first editions of the Japanese Red/Green. It's pretty cool.

Disregard that I read in reverse chronological order. removing.
General Discussion / I think I'm done.
« on: September 22, 2009, 01:44:25 pm »
This is something that has slowly been increasingly happening, but now I think it's 98% official.
There's just not much of anything...research-wise, that there's left to do. Sure, there's over six thousand garbage-data Pokémon in the R/S/E generation, and there's the tweaking glitch in D/P/Pt (I did manage to do it in Platinum, yes).
I just somehow no longer find this enjoyable. People are getting better at debugging, so it's not like there's much more in the future for us to do.
I've done a bit for you guys, but I don't really think I did all that much. I joined a bit late for what I wanted to contribute to, and I'm not even sure if I would have done much then. Despite that, I made a few minor discoveries, and helped out with the databases, and did some forum moderation and later administration.
I think the biggest contribution to reducing my activity was joining Maplestory. I'll just leave it at that.
Regarding the site, it's in a state of decline. We're nearing an end in Pokémon glitch research, and right now we're clinging on to what we have desperately. The wiki is really just a rehash of everything, but I do support it since it's a format that people find user-friendly.
If we are to hope to continue glitch researching, we must expand our horizons. This move is a risky one, as there are many paths to take, and most will create division. If the focus is shifted to glitches on an entire system, then fans of a rival system will be turned off to the idea. However, doing so may bring in more people. Project Caspar has demonstrated itself to largely be a failure, possibly for being too broad, and perhaps might just not have been announced enough. Whatever the reason, it's a step in the right direction, and needs to be tried again.
Quite a few times over the course of my being here, I've been a prick. I have no idea why. I guess I grew up around pricks, and that's pretty much how I was raised. Slowly but surely it's reduced though, so maybe part of it was just immaturity. At any rate, I apologize for having been a prick all those times.
Now I'm in college, so free time has really reduced. I feel it appropriate to pass the torch to you younger folks. Do what you deem necessary, and be sure to use the utilities to check for errors in the boards and stuff like that.
I'll log on occasionally and look around to see how things are doing, possibly even help with the wiki or site. Who knows? Maybe I'll fully return someday.
and uh...I guess that's it. See you around.
Malware can sometimes change values from "systemroot" to "fystemroot" and block you from changing it. However, the solution is simple.
Hit Windows key + R to open up the "Run..." dialogue.
type in "regedit" and hit enter or whatever.
Edit>Find... and search for "fystemroot".
Now you'll need to edit the permissions. In case you didn't know, it is literally Edit>Permissions... then for "Full Control" check "Allow"
now you can fix the value. right click the string, click "Modify" and change to "f" to "s" and press "OK"
hit F3 to check for more of these values. you'll need to edit the permissions each time.
Site Announcements / Time to State the Obvious

Due to...many events that have greatly impacted our ability to hold a professional and stable IRC channel, we have abandoned all attempts to do so indefinitely.

Maybe on special occasions, we might hold discussions on IRC.
Wiki Discussion / New schooltime site activity
« on: August 22, 2008, 01:51:51 pm »
Now that school is about to start, the probability of my access to a computer is going to be restricted. greatly. as in, no access at all. for indeterminate periods of time.
So, to the ordinary users, this means not really anything different to you, unless you actually go to the IRC channel, which is doubtful since most people prefer to go to The Internal Enemy's IRC Network. However, for the few that do, I have given moderation privileges to a few users. I wanted to give it to more people, but no one goes there, so... good luck for when people raid the channel and no ops are on.

Mods: uh... keep doing... whatever it is you do.

fellow admins: First of all, Abwayax, fix the interface up and restore the Caspar data. and, if kayla is all that it's cracked up to be I suppose this won't be an issue, butI often hear complaints out of some staff that they don't know where certain things are.
other admins: pick up the slack for me.

I'll still be around, just not as often. I'll try to get on whenever I can.

The Dumpster Out Back / Smilies.
« on: August 16, 2008, 08:17:50 pm »
Too many extra smilies. why can't we go back to the smaller amount we had before. plus, there's a real problem, with this being a pokemon site, when you try to talk about that GameCube Pokemon game (Pok?mon XD)
sure, you could just check "Don't use simlies" or whatever, but who would do that?
General Discussion / Canst thou believe it?

Dost thou think thou can make Matlab?
Pokémon Discussion / I despise the D/P Battle engine

Surf, which used to be an awesome, strong attack that hit both enemy pokemon in a double battle, now hits all pokemon, like Earthquake.
Mirror Move really pwned in the past games. I used it to get out of trouble when against Dive/Fly/Dig/Bounce/etc. now it doesn't work unless you're hit by it first.
There's some other things I hate, but I can't remember.
