In an effort to preserve the sixteen years of clean room research on GCL following the source code leaks of the first four generations of Pokémon games, we will be reverting the wiki to March 31st on the affected articles. Additionally, the wiki will then be completely locked, archived, and exported to a format that is easily importable to a fresh Mediawiki installation. Two weeks after the archival of the wiki, the forums will also be locked and archived. On July 31st, the current Discord will remain open, however the current on-topic channels will be archived, the purpose of the discord as a glitch research area effectively derailed, and the ownership handed off to someone we will not disclose until that time.

The goal of this process is to allow a new community to form in GCL's place. Our Discord and the site splash page will act as a redirect to any community that forms.

Since the source codes were leaked, it became apparent that, being as open as GCL is, any new contributions to the first four generations Pokémon games, and to an extent generation five, would always carry a risk that the contributor would be providing tainted data by reading from the source code themselves. Rather than accepting this fact, allowing this data to intermingle with our research from the last sixteen years, it was decided to pass along our work to any community willing to continue it with the knowledge that any further contributions would always come from dubious origins. Anyone who wants to form that community as a replacement to GCL has the right to do so.  We are offering our data as a base to build upon in this new era, one which GCL will not be a part of.

This is the end of operations of Glitch City's Laboratories, however this is the beginning of the greater Glitch City Metropolis.

Alright time to bring this thread full circle:

If he finished all his Truth or Dares he'd be Fred Durst.

I have to edit the name as it's outdated compared to the one on the old Gammapedia.  Iirc it was The_KiNG of Evil but I'd have to check because it was a reference to someone in the IRC channel named The_KiNG or otherwise

Merged the original topiclessness threads into one whole single thread for preservation.
I will take more time to read this topic later today, but at a quick glance, the CSS problems are heavily tied to the archaic SMF 2.0 system and 2.1 is yet to release fully (but is in final release candidate stage).  Graphical site work can be done after its release.

It could range from the over-the-top complexity of Team Rocket wants you to SHUT UP

That's far from complex and closer to "teenage shitposting"
Seems kinda like an instance of Schrodinger's Douchebag where he initially made it just to trick people, but then told us that it was a metaphor for fake news or whatever after people called out that it was fake.

Ah OK. Yes, 10/10 for their effort but I don't see any evidence for the existence like we've previously known; and in one sense everything can be a glitch Pokémon.

Traditionally a glitch Pokémon has just been one type of data interpreted as another; but indexed (hence in RBYGSC there are 2^8 or 256 indexed values without a 'logic altering device' (by that I mean a Game Genie or ROM hack)). The sprite in this case may also be arbitrary sprites (or a ROM hack) I've never seen in the disassemblies, which makes me disbelief. So my head is telling me; this is all just magical thinking (that this is real) it's more like an illusion/paradelia; it does exist but it's not necessarily in the hard code.

It's a real hack and video if that counts, otherwise it doesn't exist period in the vanilla normal game.

Not much has changed, Abwayax has stepped to the wayside for years and made that apparent but just decided to make it official this week by demoting himself and promoting Sherkel to admin.  Voting and decisions are still made the same way they were when Abwayax was admin.

In this case, there's one less staff member, one inactive admin (IIMarckus), and one inactive staff member (Wack0).  I'll be creating a thread out of potential candidates for a staff position this week since there's enough cause to do so and let the community decide on who will become the new staff member.  Feel free to add any candidates to the topic once created as I'll start the topic locked for 24 hours and allow edits to the list as anyone sees fit before a proper poll is made.
