General Discussion / Re: This place feels dead
« on: December 06, 2017, 11:42:04 pm »
GCLF has been inactive for the past few years, but I wouldn't call it dead. There's still a small community around here. I do miss the old times though when it was super active, not gonna lie.
If you search around Naver (the Korean Google basically) with the Korean names (포켓몬스터 금 & 은) you might be able to find something.
Polls / Re: GCL T-shirts

Selling t-shirts to attract new members is a bad idea, it won't work. It's free to join a forum, t-shirts cost money. Also like others have said we're very niche, and to be frank GCLF activity has been declining over the years.

Do t-shirts for the community that are dedicated & already here. I'd totally buy a GCL shirt considering I've been here for like... 10 years. Maybe run it by the admins to see if they're okay with using the forum name/likeness to sell shirts too. I do design so I could possibly help do a t-shirt design.

Pokémon Discussion / Re: Pokémon Moon and Sun Discussion

Gonna grab Moon digital copy, Sun physical copy.
Sun legendary > Moon legendary. (wtf is the bat thing)
Probably going to pick Rowlet and the fire cat thing.
Popplio is okay, I think he's cute but too similar to Oshawott (who I liked).

It all depends on the final evos though.... lets hope we don't get Delphox/Chesnaught 2.0

Also 10/10 points for watching Pokemon speedruns (cause they're awesome) and then coming back here from the videos.  8)

Didn't we have a forum game called "Quote the person above you" or something to that extent? Just sayin lol.

That's happened to me too, it takes awhile for a post to go through. Regardless of the post size, thread, forum, etc.

I like this change. Spices up the site a bit lmao.
I swear I can't get missingno on yellow for the life of me. I've never had so many crashes trying to do this before; it usually ends up working eventually. I don't even get the "missingno is trying to learn", it just crashes to red/green lines every time the sprites load.

One of my friends told me when I wanted to try speedrunning Yellow NSC on VC that there are issues with Missingno? So I couldn't do the run. So this might be something similar? I've run into similar issues using different emulators for that run involving Missingno. I feel like it has to do with how it loads it or something? I'm not sure tbh.
Pokémon Discussion / Re: RBY to be released on the 3DS Virtual Console
« on: February 28, 2016, 02:31:43 pm »
Yes, the names of the patches refer to the filename of the rom, which in turn reflects the product code:
Dmgapai0.i59.patch is Italian Red, the gray bars on the sides of the label of the original game say "DMG-APAI-ITA"; the final 0 is probably version (as it's usually 0 or 1, and for reference my Silver says DMG-AAXI-ITA-1 which would mean it's 1.1)

I'm not sure that's the case because the only early core Pokémon games with known revisions are Japanese Red and Green (v1.0 & 1.1), Japanese Yellow (v1.0-1.3), Japanese Gold and Silver (v1.0 & 1.1), and English Crystal (v1.0 & v1.1).

I was actually wondering if it's possible to know which revisions of the Japanese games were used as source for the Virtual Console releases.

I am still curious though if MissingNo. and 'M will be bankable though, considering it will have Gen I support.

It's unlikely to support MissingNo. and the like because they will make sure to exclusively allow valid Pokémon IDs. Whether or not they will check for legitimacy of a Pokémon by looking at its moveset, stats, individual strengths AKA potential (IVs), base stats / base stat points [?] (EVs), etc. remains to be seen.

I currently don't own a 2DS or 3DS but what sort of legality checks are performed by Poké Transporter and/or Pokémon Bank?

If the Poketransporter/Pokemon Bank hack check is anything like the Battle Spot one, it's pretty bad. I know for sure Bank stops Shiny Wishmaker Jirachis (even though they're possible iirc) and blatant hacks. But even then, some stuff slips through the cracks. I'm sure though they'll have ways to prevent Missingno/other glitches to get through to Bank.

I'm pretty hype for Pokken, the main/only reason why I might get a Wii U.
I managed to run Blue NSC so it seems like everything is running like the old games like everyone has said. The only issue I've had is that a friend told me Yellow NSC can't be run because of something to do with Missingno, I don't remember the details.
