Pokémon Discussion / Re: Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Discussion
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:03:17 am »
@Ryccardo I found a minor bug in my game as well -- and I don't know if it affects all games, or... just mine. I haven't checked my X file (lolol) yet either, but here's the rundown:

For some reason, when I go to my PC, open my Pokemon boxes and then exit out, for a split second where "Log Out" is, it shows a bunch of numbers in a sequence (1, 2, 3, etc.). It's one of those kind of "once you see it you can't unsee it" things and it's driving me insane. I have no idea why it happens, and if it's even ORAS only, or just my game.

I managed to take a picture of it, but it's kind of low quality, sorry about that. You should still be able to see it and get the idea, though. I actually took a small video of it happening too. In fact, that's how I got the image to begin with. It's of course also pretty low quality since I don't have a way to capture 3DS video.

I hope it's alright that I post it here, seeing as it is the ORAS discussion thread. I don't really feel making a topic just for it is necessary, especially since it's extremely minor. But if you guys would rather I do that, I can.

(Am I the the only one that feels like the Pokemon games are pretty much all the same difficulty?) Ok fine, Brendan's a little handhold-y. But what do you expect, he thinks you're a newbie kind of like everyone else in the game, SCREW OFF YOU GUYS I'VE BEEN A CHAMPION MORE TIMES THAN YOU KNOW seriously I hate the Winstrate family and their cocky obnoxious a--

I regret to inform you that (from what I've heard) the Battle Frontier is not in the game. I know, I know. I wanted it too.

Still I recommend getting the game(s) though, especially if you liked Hoenn a lot. The music is absolutely (no pun intended) fantastic. I was looking forward to Verdanturf, Route 113 and the Magma/Aqua Admin themes the most and wasn't disappointed.

Actually, regarding the Battle Frontier, the "Frontier Brain" theme did get redone. It should still be on YouTube if you want to hear it. I'm not sure if it's used in the games or not though. I think it might be one of my favorites.

Sometimes. I used to be way more into it but I haven't really had a chance to battle anyone in a long time.

Plus the only team I actually really have set up right now is a mixed-tier one (mostly lower-tier Pokemon), and I feel like people usually only do strictly OU. :(

EDIT: Now that Smogon actually has a tier list I just looked. Yeah it's pretty much a low tier team barring like 2 Pokemon. I should train up some replacements.

Alright thanks! It's been a rule on like, most forums I've been to that it's fine, but I couldn't remember if I read it in the rules for this one as well or if I had just imagined it. Glad it's okay!

I've added all of you guys! Not sure if everyone that's posted their FC is still active here, but I did it anyway. Oh also, figured I should mention my Friend Safari has Quilladin, Sawsbuck and I think Tangela.

Praying for my life that it's okay to necropost on this since it's a stickied thread lol Pretty sure I remember it being okay

Figured I'd post my FC since OR/AS come out soon :OOO Hopefully the Frfiend Safari still exists

Hopefully this isn't a stupid question and I really hope it wasn't answered and I just didn't notice, but Metarkrai, your Mew video made me really curious. If I'm remembering right, there's an obedience flag for Mew (and Deoxys?) in FR/LG/E (and maybe R/S). Doesn't that mean a Mew obtained through this method wouldn't obey?

It's an awesome trick, but if it doesn't obey it's a bummer since you wouldn't be able to do much with it. :(

Also, my apologies for not having much else to contribute. I actually haven't dabbled much into messing around with Gen 3, maybe I should try sometime.
I'm not particularly convinced either which is kind of a shame because I'd love to see some more crazy XY glitches. Alas, all we have are the mystery eggs which never seemed to happen ever again. :(
Generation VI Glitch Discussion / Some weird XY glitch (supposedly)
« on: May 23, 2014, 12:56:00 pm »
Please note that this did not happen to me and there is, of course, no real proof that the person is telling the truth or not but it doesn't seem that far fetched and I found it rather interesting (especially since there aren't many known XY glitches as it is), so I thought I'd make a topic about it to see what you guys have to say.

Here is what they said:

I wanted to play Pokemon X after a long hiatus and I turned it on.
When it loaded, all my Pokemon were gone but a level 8 Skitty, which
was presumably mine, and no Pokemon were in the box or in the
daycare. I had all the badges, and was in Lumonise city so I decided to
go catch some more Pokemon, but all the ones I ran into were the
legendary birds but they flee before I could even attempt to catch them.
( which was unlikely, my Skitty can't do that much, lol.)

Anyways, I ended up having to restart it for a fresh start, but has anyone
ever head of this happening or has it happened to them?

Out of curiosity I asked them if just one of the birds appeared or all three, and they said that they all appeared, not just whichever one s/he should have gotten based on whatever starter s/he picked at the beginning of the game.

I don't really see why this person would have any reason to lie about this since it's not really anything spectacular, just really obscure and bizarre, and it wouldn't really be the first time some extremely bizarre glitch happened in a Pokemon game anyway (kind of like the mystery egg glitch that happened so soon after the games were released, haha), but I'm curious as to what you guys have to say about this, and what could have possibly caused something like this to happen... well, unless of course you think they're just lying  ;)
The video you posted seems like it could be this (the list of palette swaps in the mini-games) and not a glitch.

As for the lime green and cyan Ho-Oh, I'm not sure. That does sound like some kind of glitch as I'm assuming your Ho-Oh wasn't shiny (I'm not sure what the shiny Ho-Oh in Stadium 2 looks like and I doubt a nicknamed Ho-Oh would be those colors).  I'm actually a little interested in this too, and I just found that palette swap page and it reminded me of this.
I think it's kind of strange that it specifically says 1 minute. Maybe that's just me though?

Messages used for testing sounds very plausible, definitely. Of course, it's also likely these appear when the backup memory is damaged just like it says. But as I mentioned before, I've never even heard of these messages, only the sub-circuit board one. Surely there would have been someone out there with a messed up cartridge within the 10 years these games have been out?
Wow! This is the most interesting decamark I've ever seen. And so are those messages! I've never even seen or heard of those messages appearing. The most similar I've ever seen to the main two you talk about is "The 1m sub-circuit board is not installed." message and that one is pretty common with some roms.

Magikarp? That's interesting.
EDIT: Oh for LENGTH. Like... oh. oh. I forgot that part of the game even existed

Guess this theory/rumor is put to rest then. :) Thanks.

I was under the impression what it meant was that Crystal generates that particular DV sequence more often than G/S, thus making shinies more common in the wild while retaining compatibility. But I only have a very vague understanding of how seeds (?) in Gen I and II work as I can't find much info on the RNG for those gens. I worded that terribly, haha.

@Bert it is most likely just a rumor or wild guessing, yeah. Still, I find it pretty interesting as I too have heard about a couple other people finding shinies in Crystal pretty frequently. :)

Hi, my apologies if this is in the wrong place or has been discussed before. I'm not actually sure whether or not this is truly a glitch but since every other percentage before XY was 1/8192 I figured it may be appropriate to post it in the glitch section.

Recently I stumbled upon a FAQ (here: that claims that the chance of encountering a shiny Pokemon in the wild in Crystal is 1/4096. Since it's a pretty long FAQ, I will post exactly what it says:

... NOTE: The odds of finding a shiny in the wild is 16:65536, or 1:4096

Has anyone else ever heard anything about this? I have heard people mention that it seems shinies are slightly more common in Crystal but never anything more than a "oh, hey, maybe they are more common or something".

I just found it rather interesting. Hopefully you guys do too and if it is true perhaps someone knows the reasoning behind this? Thanks. :)
I don't think I have a bad clone, no... Never did any cloning on the Silver rom in question.

Thanks Torchickens! That explains a lot, pretty cool to know too! :)

The fun part is that the Dittos weren't removed though, they were all there except one that was replaced. Hmm, I dunno.

EDIT: I tried my Red file as well. There were no Dittos which kind of makes me think my Silver file might have something wrong with the boxes.
