Generation II Glitch Discussion / Japanese Select Glitch to Gen 2
« on: August 16, 2016, 08:59:28 pm »
Discussion time!

As a few of you might already know, if you swap an item with your Pokemon, run immediately, you will be poisoned and be stuck in a loop. Although, when you go to the PKMN center and save and quit every 4 steps to the PC, and withdraw a normal Pokemon, you will get a glitched Pokemon lv. 0 with health 0/0, and an index number of 000. The Pokemon sprite also changes. (Sometimes I get a Rhydon, Charizard, Butterfree, ETC.). If you give this to the daycare man and level him up, he will he will have a glitched moveset (or no moves) and possibly a new sprite and will work as a functioning Pokemon just with glitch moves, cry, EVs, and a glitched sprite.

What happens when you transfer this Pokemon to Pokemon G/S/C Japanese? I don't have a Pokemon Green save file on my PC right now and can't test it out. Does anybody know what happens?

It looks like he didn't actually use 8F to generate the music, he just used it to redirect the music pointers into an area of RAM where he'd inserted the song.

The RBY music format has been touched on here and there are tools such as this one that you can use to import your own songs. It says in the video that he used a save editor, so he may have used those tools and then written it into his game's SRAM.

How did he write it into SRAM? I thought it could only be done through RAM? Am I just retarded?

This is also from his description.

''Basically, 8F is a glitch item, it jumps PC to WRAM, and you can make ASM routines with items. By doing so, and loading a song into pokemon box 1, and saving, it can be played without any external device''

Is this stuff really not documented?

Are you one? I most certainly am. The first 2 Gens hold a VERY special place in my heart. Any of you play the newer Pokemon games? Or do you just continually re-live nostalgia and play R/B/Y/G and G/S/C romhacks?

Are there any documentations for this? All I have heard about this is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP00FPrvPRU from TehFroggest but he hasn't responded to me on any platform. Anybody know about this?

Indeed :), with the bad clone glitch or Coin Case arbitrary code execution, we can obtain a ????? (FF).

To obtain a bad clone, I believe you must deposit more Pokémon in a box you have ever used (at least five) and then turn the power off a split second after the Yes/No box disappears (Gold) or the "SAVING... DON'T TURN OFF THE POWER." after it is fully printed (Crystal). If you are playing on Pokémon Stadium 2's GB Tower, you can reset the game when it says "Saving..." below the Game Boy screen. Once you have the bad clone (which should be level 0), withdraw it and take it into the Day Care to stabilize it, and if it is a 'bad clone' it will become a ????? (00).

To convert this glitch Pokémon into a ????? (FF), put it in slot 2 and use move Pokémon w/o mail to put a Pokémon in slot 1 to obtain 7 Pokémon. Take the ????? (00) into Day Care and out again, and you will receive ????? (FF); provided you deposit Pokémon to make room for it.

Then, once you have a ????? (FF), faint it, put it to the top of the party and faint all your other Pokémon below it. When you white out your Pokémon will not have been healed and you can disable encounters with the skip battle effect you mentioned. Ideally you can teach one of your party Pokémon Fly so you can travel across Johto and Kanto.

Could it learn surf aswell?

Title.

Just have been wondering if there is a way to disable encounters in any future generations. All I know about that is that in Generation 2 if you don't have any Pokemon you can skip the battles, but how would you get past the little girl in New Bark Town?

Are there any glitches that Pokemon Green can't do from its American/JPBlue counterparts?

Not sure which board this goes on, feel free to move.

I recently ordered Pokemon Green since it was cheap and I heard it was the most broken game.

Is it true? Is it worth it?

Emulation & ROM Hacking / Re: Emulating the Mobile Adapter GB
« on: July 17, 2016, 03:20:34 am »
I think the next step will be to set up a server that can run a fully functioning Trade Corner, and write a client that can connect to that server or make direct “calls” to other clients. There’s still the matter of getting Pokémon Crystal’s Pokémon News, Battle Tower, and Mobile Stadium features running, and after that, it might be interesting to get a couple of the other Mobile Adapter GB compatible games working. Eventually, it would be fun to build a ROM hack of the English version of Pokémon Crystal that restores all of its mobile functionality.

I'd love to help you on this. I am a Gen 2 romhacker. A small community for the online capabilities of Pokemon Crystal. Real neat. I PM'd you my Skype.  :)
