Video Games Discussion / Windows 98 NES (or FC-WIN98)
« on: October 11, 2008, 02:39:26 pm »
Just found this a few minutes ago and thought it was interesting, just figured I'd post a couple of screenshots for this thing.

So, just as the title says, this is the NES rendition of Windows 98, naturally made by some pirate/bootlegging company.
Although this looks fully functional, the "internet" doesn't work, I can't find Outlook (probably not on there), you can't press any buttons on WordPad, Calculator, do anything on Paint, etc.

All in all, I was pretty relieved when I got to the Chinese "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen, because this thing is, while interesting, just terrible.

Screenshots: (spoiler'd due to amount)

I lol'd when I initially started "playing" this, but I ended up wanting to shoot myself in the foot when it was over.

edit: we totally need a pirate games section *shot*

Sonic Submissions / [NOTICE] Please submit in the correct area.
« on: September 04, 2008, 04:05:22 pm »
Due to recent problems, this topic eventually became necessary.

We've had problems recently and in the past with members who post their submissions (usually even then out of place or bad) in the incorrect section of the submissions.

When posting a submission, please post it in the general submissions board depending on what game it is.
For example, Sonic Submissions go in the General Submissions for it's area, you do NOT post it in Approved or Added Glitches just because you believe it will be approved or added to the site.

General Discussion / This place needs fire extinguishers
« on: August 25, 2008, 07:46:46 pm »
I hate how every month there's a topic that results in or spirals into a flamewar between Member X and Members Y and Z, or Admin Q versus Group Z or something.

Seriously, a lot of us need to shut the hell up and learn to get along, myself included, because I'm tired of being involved in a monthly flamewar.

Sonic Submissions / [NOTICE] What will be denied in this board...
« on: August 24, 2008, 06:05:50 pm »
So, you've found a glitch, eh?
If you're going to submit it to Glitch City Laboratories, there are a few guidelines to doing so.

In your submission, any glitches originating from one or more of these methods will usually be denied immediately.:
  • Debug Mode
  • Savestates *Emulators Only*
  • Using an Action Replay/GS a code that does an abnormal action ("Press button for Turbo", etc.)
  • A form of hacking which would utilize things like the Memory Viewer (THIS DOES NOT APPLY BECAUSE MEMORY ITSELF IS BEING EDITED, THE RESULTS DO NOT HAPPEN IN-GAME UNDER ANY NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCE.)
    • Corruption of the game/ROM created by specific programs or damage to the physical cart.
    • Glitches that result from editing the game itself, the glitches must originate from the original game, not a hack.
    • Anything that resembles a glitch but is actually caused by the hardware.

If any, meaning one or more, of these above mentioned methods are utilized, the submission will, without question, be immediately denied and placed into the Denied Submissions area.

9/2/08 Addendum: As it was not stated previously, let it be known that your submission MUST include a video or screenshots, otherwise it may be denied if nobody can be bothered to/cannot test it.

Forum Announcements / Retirement from Total Administration
« on: August 23, 2008, 11:59:32 am »
Yeah, check it.

This sudden decision was not, in any way, shape, or form, due to reasons regarding fighting, or being fed up with GCL.
I chose to revert to a Lieutenant Administrator position because really, the total administrator group had power I wasn't going to use. Ever.
I wasn't going to ever use my powers on the Main Site or anywhere else regarding it, making that extraneous power that I'd never need.
Alongside having that unneeded power, I didn't really...want it, in a way.
Total Site-Forum administration just wasn't my calling, I'm leaving the site administration to those who...know what they're doing =P.

So yeah, I'm giving up the Red Admin seat in favor of the more-suiting Lieutenant Administration, forum admin is more my forte, and that's all I really want to do.

General Discussion / Quitting Sonic Glitch Research
« on: August 05, 2008, 02:22:17 pm »
(Spent like five minutes deciding where this should go, it doesn't regard the glitches directly but still slightly involves them and agh agh agh agh)

Yeah, as the title suggest and my signature now explains, I'm no longer interested in glitches in general.
And as such, I left the Sonic Glitch Research group and have ended all current research (not like I've attempted since Sparta went up).

But yeah, felt that it had to be announced and all that jazz.

Approved Submissions / Sonic R: Out of Bounds III (Regal Ruin)
« on: June 28, 2008, 10:10:30 pm »
Another out of bounds glitch in Sonic R.

This time, this is based in Regal Ruin using Amy.
Simply, you use the same method in the Resort Island glitch.
The place the boost must be started is in that little corner in the little shortcut room behind the big upward ramp.
When entering the little shortcut room, instead of heading up, immediately go right, and go right into that little corner.
Now, as far as I know, you have to have precise angling when you start the boost, I personally make sure I'm somewhat far back away from the corner when I fire off the boost, so I'll be at full boost when I collide with the wall, increasing my chances of going through the wall at the correct angle and speed.

No pictures or video, but I explained this as best I could and have done this several times tonight while glitch hunting.
