Emulation & ROM Hacking / Re: Emulating the Mobile Adapter GB
« on: July 23, 2017, 06:30:13 pm »
Thoughts I wanna throw out there from my limited Japanese phone system knowledge:

AFAIK, the PHS network allowed for the use of "personal" cells that interconnected to the Japanese PTSN (eg, to use your PHS phone as a cordless home phone). PHS phone + DDI PHS adapter + PHS base station + Asterisk magic(?)/dial up server/email system for comms = "real life" Mobile Adapter GB emulation?
Debate Wars / Re: The great OS wars

Hah. Let’s come back around to this, 6+ years after the original post:

Microsoft Windows
Windows 7 has become my favorite of the OSes so far. Windows 8/8.1 have been buggy and garbage from an enterprise standpoint, and Windows 10 is cramming so much shitware out of the box unless you get the super-special “long-term servicing” edition that it’s not even worth installing.

Embedded-wise… Windows Phone isn’t the strongest platform anymore. It’s lost its’ marketshare. Not a lot of good applications. It just seems so lacking in comparison to the old WinMo 6.x era.

With all the changes to windowing environments Ubuntu really turned to crap. I’ll really only go near CentOS or Debian most of the time, and only command-line. Android is getting iffy to an extent when device manufacturers place crapware on the device - I haven’t seen a usable LG or HTC phone, ever.

Macs are my go-to machine. I’m typing this on my Macbook Pro, though I have nothing but bones to pick about El Capitan, the latest OS X release. With the advent of System Integrity Protection, 10.11 basically locks itself down like an iPhone: no root access, limited /System modification available, and a lot more restrictions as to what you can do to the OS.

The iPhone and iPad though? I’ve been nothing but happy with both my iPad and iPhone. Application support is great (I have basically 90% of my hospital IT-related applications available on both, and for everything else Citrix is spot-on).

This is the service key to a Siemens Definition AS CT scanner to open the really scary panels that control radiation sources and cooling and controllers.

It's also a bottle opener.

Hooray for German engineering!

MS KB 319827 as well references this:
Where the hell have you people been.

I mean I know you like left before I joined but still.

Then again I have nothing else to do so I'm here all day.

Full time work. Currently I work in a call centre (and have lots of shiny certifications) but I'm currently in the interview process for getting a new job with a local hospital's IT service desk. More pay, benefits, and, well, actual recognition.

(It's so sad how we all grow up. I remember being the young naive child I was only a few years ago and now I'm buying insurance products for my car and researching health insurance options for myself. At 20!)

I'm actually surprised the database is as intact as it is. Signed up back in 2006... jeez I was a retard back then, not going to lie. 5 years! Over 5 years!

... do I get a cake in 5 more years?

Wiki Discussion / Is our Wiki broken-ish?

Is it just me or are MySQL errors getting common when I browse the wiki? Every now and then it'll just give up saying it can't allocate anymore memory. I couldn't get into certain categories and pages [and still can't].

And it depends on what pages, too... I was having issues with and now it's let me load it.

Either way, is our wiki broken-ish with the weird fatal memalloc errors?

Like there's any way to get some kicks with a big wad of cash and a license to dri-
