Pokémon Discussion / Re: What was your first shiny?

Shiny Tauros in Crystal... in fact, I think I still have it... =D
Up to twelve badges in SoulSilver, but haven't really been playing in a while... I suppose I could get back into the game soon, but I've been so busy lately, what with work and developing a Breakout clone for another board, etc. =/

My team so far: Feraligatr, Weezing, Skarmory, Gengar, Alakazam, and Ampharos.

Any word of new abilities/moves/natures/etc. yet? And will it be a one-way trade from generation IV to V? =/

I think they shouldn't add new natures if they want to maintain bidirectional compatibility with both generations; abilities and moves are no problem as a Pokémon can be reverted to a Gen 4 ability, and there's also a move deleter in Gen 5, so Gen 5 moves won't be a problem. New natures, otoh... that could cause problems with bidirectional transport, unless they can somehow change the nature to one that's compatible with gen 4 (that won't work if they add HP+/HP- natures, though). =P

Also, wonder if the move relearner will use anything different for currency in the 5th generation... or even if it'll be free in gen 5, like the move deleter.

I'm wondering if they'll introduce any new type combinations in Black and White... I'd like to see some creative ones, like Electric/Grass (negates weakness to ground but gives you a weakness to ice and fire), Steel/Poison (pretty cool type combo, but 4x weak to ground), and pure Flying (please make a Pokémon like this. =/)

Anyone willing to bet that this generation's übers (forgot their names) will be Dragon/Psychic and Dragon/Dark (both maybe with Levitate?) I'm willing to bet 100 Pokémoney that they'll be those types. =/

I think you can get the "Game Boy Color Only" message if you try to get to the Glitch Dimension in Pokémon Crystal...

Since Pokémon Gold and Silver reset improperly when they crash (which causes the glitch dimension), G/S think that they are being played on a non-color GB. That is why you get funky colors when the game resets instead of returning to GBC mode properly...

However, in Pokémon Crystal, they made the game compatible with GBC only, and any attempt to enter the Glitch Dimension will result in the "This cartridge is for Game Boy Color only" message. Also, the Machop/Machoke glitch in Vermilion was fixed in Crystal, AFAIK, so you can't get that message by doing that glitch there...

use both attract and thunder wave for ultimate power!
Yea, that's exactly what I'm doing ^_^

Parattraction is awesome, same with Parafusion and (in earlier games; doesn't work as well in newer games) Wrap/Fire Spin/Clamp combined with Toxic...

Thanks ^_^

I just taught her the Thunder Wave TM ^_~

Hell, even paralysis alone can be useful, lol

Yea, I use status ailments fairly often in fights in-game, especially paralysis, confusion, and attraction, so I'm thinking about switching from Rest/Chesto to Parattraction ^_^

I don't do competitive battling at all, only trading...

I've been deciding on what moves I should put on my Gardevoir, and I've been wondering if I should do Parattraction, Rest-talking, or Rest/Chesto ^_^

Gardevoir ♀
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Attract
- Thunderwave

Gardevoir ♀
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Gardevoir ♀
@Chesto Berry
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- third move (I currently have Attract)
- Rest

Note that this is for in-game rather than competitive, and I'm not sure which one would work best (I probably won't use the Rest-Talker moveset, but Parattraction sounds nice ^_^)
Yea... I wasn't expecting them to add Sinnoh Pokémon to this game because of DPP, but thankfully we can get at least some Sinnoh Pokémon without trading them from DPP ^_^

Anyone know if Houndour, Misdreavus, or Murkrow is available before Kanto in HGSS? That was the one thing I hated about the original GSC... -_-

[Edit: Also, I like the fact that we not only get Kanto starters in HGSS, we also get Hoenn starters too ^_^]

Hmm... it's a toss-up between Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy VI...

I'm going to say... Final Fantasy VII... it was my 14th birthday present, back in 1998... I played it almost nonstop when I first got it... ^_^
