Maybe he has good taste and decided to keep the yellow cartridge

Meh, it was in pretty terrible shape.  It was in a yellow/blue "Pokemon edition" GBC, which is probably much less common than a Yellow cart.

Already have, this was a few weeks ago. Nothing so far.  And yes, I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist.

Sounds like a very good use for my Silver cart with a dead battery.

(...and also a good punishment for erasing a 10-year-old save file two years ago!)

Your cart got stolen?
Yep...it was in my backpack when the entire thing - along with a MacBook Pro, an iPod, and various textbooks, was stolen.  Probably the least valuable thing in the bag, but still...

I think I still have a copy of Red around here somewhere that I never got the glitch to work on, maybe I'll try that.

Heh.  No more Yellow glitch research for me...

Whoever stole it, I hope you get caught in an infinite loop of NPC object events.

I hated to kill my "Pikatwo" save file, but I got the glitch again on Yellow (on the first try, no less!)

So there is no way at all to get Pikachu to show up or act normally in the roster?

Also, the specified Master Ball item just does not want to show up in my copy...

I wonder what kind of other things remain in the memory after a new game?
Well, for one thing, the old save file doesn't appear to be completely overwritten when a new game is started.  In my attempts to get the save glitch to work on Red, I've found that I can start a new game, save, reset the Game Boy, select "New Game" with a save file already present, reset again, and find myself where I saved on the first save file.

you saved after starting the second new game, too?
Yes, as part of an unsuccessful attempt at a save glitch.

And then there's my copy of Yellow, in which one save file "leaked into" another one, resulting in my having two Pikachus.  I have no idea what happened there, but it was also a result of save glitching.

I'm still trying to get this to work on Red. Argh...

I FINALLY GOT IT YOU GUYS

The game basically exploded itself in the middle of Oak's introduction text.

This message has been brought to you by the byte 13 and the address 0049!
26

Technically, the room data as in the map header data (except the level-script pointer) and tileset header stays the same as it is.
That's what I thought, since the tileset appeared to correspond to the location in this case.
27
If you change the map identifier and interact with the signs/NPCs, you'll likely see inappropriate text (like the healing message) or invalid text that ends with (id) ERROR.

Yes, NPC text errors happened to me as well.

I think I understand what you're saying about the pointers. But when, for example, the game displays glitchy credits in a particular location, does it overwrite the room data with the credits data?
28
Triple-post, woo!

As inspired by one of agusganog's videos, I've tried an address in a brand-new location: D35E. Something to do with location and teleporting when you change the first byte to A7...but that byte changes with the area, so it takes a few tries to get it working correctly.

There's a little bit of everything in this code...crashes, Glitch City teleportations, Safari Zone recalls, and things like this very odd credits glitch.

Let me know if the video doesn't work.

I thought it looked familiar. But why would it appear there, and when the game was lagging badly?
Couldn't tell you.

I did have Blue switch to Link Battle mode once, in the middle of some memory hacking.

Has anyone seen this before?

The game was lagging horribly due to me changing a few bytes, and at the worst part of the lag, 'Waiting...!' appeared.
I believe that's part of the text that appears during a link cable battle.
