you must EV train it some on HP,so the pomeg berry lowers it HP in some cases by 2
try before lowering its HP to 1 some pomeg berries and count them until you see that
it lowers it by 2,reset your game and use the same number of berries -1,lower you pokemon HP
to 1 and use the pomeg berry

Tough to explain (very tedious as well). Look here: http://www.serebii.net/games/evs.shtml

Kind of on hiatus for the next few weeks at least, but I always come back and in the meantime would like to encourage discussion on how the site is organized so as to let visitors find the most useful info (whatever that may be) in a clean and efficient fashion.
I don't have a habit of keeping Discord open, so direct inquiries are still preferred through here.

An EV is a value from 0 to 255 for each stat. Fighting certain Pokemon increases your Pokemon's EVs for a specific stat; for example, fighting a Whismur gives 1 HP EV. The trick is that you can only have 510 EVs total, meaning you can't max out more than two stats (though you can spread them across other stats before reaching 510).

The Pomeg Berry reduces the number of EVs in HP by 10.

Pretty much actually. But they go up to 252 legally, it's just 255 in the programming I think (hence all the "6 HP"s in many teams).
