Tombstoner's Super Glitch log
« on: October 20, 2007, 07:13:50 am »
I didn't have one in the gallery on Red yet, so I got a Ditto with the blank move. Just wanting to see random stuff, I tried using the move. After getting some pretty cool stuff, I recorded the results (possibilities). First few are on wild Mankey and Growlithe, the more developed one against Lorelei:
DITTO used MEW! (Earthquake animation) (No KO) (Normal freeze)
(Screen fills up with vertical bars an a few random letters) (Gamefreeze)
DITTO used ! (Earthquake animation) (KO) (No freeze)
DITTO used 'M block! (not exactly that obviously) DITTO's attack missed!
From here, against Lorelei:
DITTO used ! (Music changes to trainer challenge)
All sounds from here are now messed up. Some yield a music change:
Razor Leaf=tree cut + Hall of Fame music
Aurora Beam=stars in intro + computer error
Cut=arrow spin + computer error
Amnesia=teleportation
Growth=sliding sound that is very familiar, but can't pinpoint
Opponent faint=ball shake x1 + obtain key item
Fire Spin usage=Hall of Fame background slow (similar to the beeping music based off Vermilion)
Fire Spin continuation=beep
Fly usage=tambourine music that I can't pinpoint - only lasts temporary, then no music
Fly hit=arrow spin + computer error
Ice Punch=continued sound when flying x1 + weird chime
Strength=beep + computer error
Blizzard=Credits music
After the battle, the screen turned black and froze.
I don't think this was ever looked in to in detail, so yeah. :)
EDIT: Changed title ;)

New stuff, after more research. Stopped after getting fed up with the TMTRAINER effect. Anyway, here goes:
DITTO used SING! DITTO's attack missed!
DITTO used [glitchblock] DEWGONG! (again, not exactly the word) DITTO's attack missed!
DITTO used ! (music fades out) (must press A multiple times now)
Yep, TMTRAINER effect. I'll just record what I wrote:
(Dewgong no name, low health, burned) TMTRAINER FARFETCH'D (I had one in my team) is frozen solid! Enemy TMTRAINER FARFETCH'D hurt by the burn! (burn, mega HP bar) (goes through, goes back a bit, faints) (Lorelei still has 5 PkMn)
I got this many many times. Anyway, here are others:
DITTO used y! DITTO's attack missed!
DITTO used [glitchblock]! DITTO's attack missed!
DITTO used ! (normal strike)
I'd like to see more people looking at this...
Held aloft, as if by hands, their thoughts remain adrift
Torn asunder, broken bands
A void, a dream, a rift

Another research session done, and got more effects, plus some actal data. Here:
DITTO used KANGASKHAN! (Fissure animation) (No KO) (Normal freeze)
Against wild PkMn
EDIT to all: Oh yes, the "Earthquake animation" is actually always a "Fissure animation". They just look somewhat alike.
DITTO used ROCK SLIDE! (Fissure animation) (Activated effect)
Yay! The screwed up sound effect! Use the move...damn, barfreeze.
Infer: Effect happens when the move hits, and Ditto is the only PkMn that was ever in battle. Otherwise, TMTRAINER efect. :-\
DITTO used LPCTM! DITTO's attack missed!
This was a really random one. Also no time to look at it, it went through extremely quickly. I remembered what it was though.
DITTO used ! (normal strike) (TMTRAINER effect)
Infer: Yep, a move hit, this time the normal strike rather then Fissure, and I had sent out another PkMn to revive Ditto, so that's what happened. :-\
DITTO used THRASH! (Fissure animation) (Activated effect)
This was a new one. It got the effect, but strangely, an enemy Take Down caused a barfreeze! :???: Weird huh? :P
Oh, and the Farfetch'd from earlier was he Farfetch'd from when I once revived Ditto. TMTRAINER is always followed by the last PkMn out.
OK then!

Yes! Got the effect to last again! Here are some more new sounds for moves:
Take Down=the chime + computer error
Slash=arrow spin + computer error
Sand-Attack=quick beep
Agility=ball shake
Swords Dance=arrow spin x3
Earthquake=title screen backgound + computer error
Oh yes, any "Hall of Fame backgrund"s from earlier are title screem background.
Dig usage=computer error
Dig hit=computer error x2
Withdraw=intro background (intro background)
Body Slam=beep + computer error
Note: Lorelei's Jynx always gets the mega HP during this effect.
Rock Slide=Team Rocket hideout background + chime
Submission=jump + chime
Froze after battle this time. When I got the money.

How bizaare O_o. I usually just get the TM Trainer effect.

Btw, try triggering TM Trainer with Ditto while your graphics are screwed by Missing/M. Against a wild Pokemon, you get a sleeping Pokemon with the huge HP bar that will wake up in a few turns. When it does, it'll be lV. 126 AND Strong. It'll nail you with Mega Drain, Thunder Wave, Drill Peck, and Sleep Powder. If you try to catch it, it'll say you caught a Horsea (unless it's a Ditto, then it'll say you caught a Ditto). After that it's the usual game freeze.

I have no idea what this will do to a Trainer battle.

The main real discovery here is the alternate effect, the screwed up sounds. Very interesting to investigate if you actually manage to get it. Maybe other glitches can trigger it too? :???: ;)

Super glitch moves might be able to do it. Cooltrainer is (somewhat) related to them, after all. And Super Glitches tend to do really random things anyway.

Wait, there are alternate TMTRAINER effects against wild PkMn? Because when I hit with a working move and don't KO it without switching PkMn it just freezes. Does screwed graphics really make a difference?

Believe it or not, yes it does.

I find the best way to activate TM TRAINER glitchiness is to do this

1. Have 0 PP for the Cooltrainer move, and DO NOT have Ditto up front (otherwise the following steps just make the game freeze)

2. Encounter a Pokemon

3. Switch to Ditto

4. Now press A on the Cooltrainer move. It'll give you the usual PP-less message, but it remain at the attack menu and not go to struggle. Keeping pressing A over and over. Sooner or later (and it COULD take a while) the type will change, and the music will die a slow death. Usually it changes into type 9 or 998 or 999999990808089999 or something of the sort, and you get the usual TM Trainer effect. However, if the graphics are glitched, you will get type ROCK. You'd think this would make things more normal, but it doesn't...instead, you get the super Pokemon mentioned in the previous post.

Btw, having a wild Ditto Transform into your glitched Ditto will cause the sprite to flip around, but not glitch. When you switch to a different Pokemon, the graphics for that Pokemon are fixed, as well as the rest of the team. Why does that happen?

Got a bit more, against Agatha this time. A weird difference
DITTO used SC GENGAR! DITTO's attack missed! (music fades out) (TMTRAINER effect)
Well, that again here huh? And it missed too! And wait, I hadn't switched ever! Maybe the last PkMn out in memory? Hmm...by the way, that was another "quick move", like LPCTM.
DITTO used ! DITTO's attack missed! (music fades out) (TMTRAINER effect)
Got it again, with (blank). Both were executed and similarly missed moves, so it wasn't SC GENGAR that made the difference. I should try this again putting Ditto the last in memory. Then again, DITTO follows TMTRAINER instead of anything else in my team, so that may not work...
DITTO used ! (Fissure animation) (No KO) (Freeze)
This was like with wild PkMn. Hmm, very weird...any conclusions drawable from this? :???:

I executed the usual "switch-in Ditto with no PP and press A until something screws up" on Lorelei the other day, using both regular graphica and "MissingNo"ed graphics. Nothing special happened, though, outside that I had to fight against the affected Pokemon twice (Glitched Dewgong, and then regular Dewgong)

I'll get started on [Part 2: Giving PP to the invisible moves blocked by Cooltrainer before healing Ditto] soon. Might search for more Cooltrainer move possibilities, but a lot of the time I get repeats or barfreezes.

OK, I started on "Part 2", not really much here. Here's what I've recorded:
's PP increased.
On a blank move, I think #4.
TRANSFORM's PP increased.
Always happens on second spot.
y's PP increased.
On the first. This was a name possibility I think I mentioned earlier.
's PP increased.
This was also on spot #1. Obviously blank was another recorded possibility.
ALLBulby's PP is maxed out.
 :P This was weird! This was on the 1st spot, with PP maxed out obviously. The next PkMn in my team was a Venusaur named Bulby.
's PP is maxed out.
Obviously had to get this at one point :P. Always got this after ALLBulby.
In battle, the Cooltrainer move is still the only one choosable.
Thing: Huh, I know that if you heal it its stats only show 1 move rather than 4, but this time it did that just after using the ITEM PC. Strangely enough, when I used an Elixer, I got the 4 moves back.
TESTING PHASE
Hmm...this time still only the Cooltrainer move was choosable, but it still had NO PP. Anyway, what I got was after continously making it say "No PP left for this move!" was TMTRAINER. But I had switched at the beginning, so the first PkMn, Nickname the Blastoise, followed TMTRAINER. Already said.

I remember getting PP's PP increased once :P.

Hmm...soyou were able to get all four moves back, but still couldn't use them? I guess the game sees them yet doesn't see them...or something. Guess it's kinda like Charizard M's cloaking ability.

I suppose that's because it is another form of Super Glitch. My A and .4's moves are all cloaked. I don't think there are any moves actually there. I just think the game lets you access those empty spaces because it doesn't actually have any moves. Hard to understand really. I might do more research on possibilities for PP Ups. I should try all this with other Super Glitche and see if I get similar results. Can those damage your game badly though?
