As you might know, ever since 2.0 the GlitchDex has used a "designation" (i.e. RB:000) to identify glitch Pokemon. Short story: I was tired of names like "Chisai-u [9]" being thrown around (and then we have the ones that don't have a pronounceable or type-able name). It gets even worse with later generations, when all of them have the same name and we have to use the identifier/hex to distinguish them anyway.

So the question is, should the other two dexes follow suit? Most of the Gen I glitch attacks have the name TMxx or HMxx, but there are some that don't have a name at all (Super Glitch, Cooltrainer etc). I think the situation with the itemdex is the same as the glitchdex, but some (Rival's and Trade completed in Gen I, Teru-sama in Gen II) have "real" names.

Like I said before, it's best to be consistent even if only a few do not have real names.

Yeah, since some glitches don't have names at all. Some items/glitches tend to have "glitched" names, as I know Superglitch is only in the first Gen, but what if the glitched named glitches, have some effect with Superglitch in the remakes?

Just wanted to add I think the other names besides designations should be redirects.

Yeah, I'm thinking that too. "MissingNo." will be a general page describing all forms of MissingNo. and linking to the GlitchDex entries for specific MissingNo. forms. Same with ????? and ??????????.

Why not using Aliases for those Glitches who either have no names or have similar names?


These sprites were made by...who else? Mutou Yami! The greatest Spriter in all of GCL!

Yes, official "designations" with redirects for common names sounds like a good system.

Okay, 92% in favor of designations for the other dexes and redirects from common names. I believe I can close this thread and begin working on that aspect of the wiki now.
